My smush for the next BVWSC arrived today, looking forward to it!

In worse news, the GEM Damaskeene open comb that I bought from a community member was stolen from our building’s mail room by a food delivery person this week.

I’m super disappointed about it, but it’s unfortunately just a part of living where we do. Hopefully I can find another in good condition soon.

Ha! Honestly I’d be relieved to know that someone is using it. I suspect they threw it away once they realized it wasn’t something obviously valuable.

I got 300ml of Tabac Aftershave today. Finally I will be able to enjoy the full aroma of the wirtschaftswunder

Ask not whether you will live long enough to use all that aftershave; ask how much you can use in one go without dying or suffering an insta-divorce

I got some honing equipment in the mail over the past week. I got a Naniwa 10k synthetic and an Atoma #600 diamond plate to use as a flattener/lapper.

I don’t have any straight razors yet, but spent some time on one of my kitchen knives. I need to set the bevel of the knife, and even the #600 seems to be too fine to do the work quickly! But that’s ok, at least I can play around with it and maybe eventually get the bevel set (using a guide clip).

Lapping the synthetic stone was a little scary! It felt like I was taking a lot of material off, but of course in reality I’m not. I stopped after a little while but I’m going to draw pencil lines on it and go at it again to make sure it’s actually all the way flat.
