I hadn’t heard of Pebble the Twitter competitor. It just makes me miss the Pebble watches.

Same here, I was wondering if there was some last remnant of Pebble watches still running for a second there.

I miss my Pebble too. I went to a Galaxy Gear S3 for a few years before ending up at a Fossil hybrid smart watch with a ink screen that gives me several days of battery life like my Pebble Steel use to have. It’s ok but it’s no Pebble.

I’m surprised nobody has taken on bringing compatible hardware to market. I feel like there would (still) be crowdfunding interest.

I held on to my Time Steel for so long, but I finally switched to AsteroidOS on a Huawei Watch. No AOD, way too bright with lights off and unreadable in the sun, and have to charge it every night (barely lasts a day). I’m heavily considering going back.

I loved my Pebble watch so much! I actually still have it, but finally gave it up when they stopped supporting it. I still have it, in my curio case.

I used rebble for quite a while—super kudos to those folks—but eventually gave it up. The battery life was finally showing signs of loss and my wife had already made the switch to Apple Watch when her Pebble died.

I’m kind of surprised rebble was allowed to continue this long after FitBit bought then killed Pebble. I know they said rebble could exist, but IIRC, there was some hinting it wouldn’t be for too much longer. Glad they either forgot about it or just let it be.

Google bought FitBit and even did an update to the Pebble app last year to make a 64-bit version of the Pebble app so it would work on new devices. Guess they really didn’t want Pebble added to the killed by Google list!

Hey! It’s like they read my last comment in the shutdown announcement thread.

This is really the best move they can make at this point.
