Share your Shave of the Day for Tuesday!
November 4th, 2025: Sneaked a shave in
- Brush: Maggard Razors - Tuxedo 24mm Synthetic
- Razor: RazoRock GOAT
- Blade: Zorrik Super Platinum (6)
- Lather: House of Mammoth - You & I (Will Die) - Soap
- Post Shave: Australian Private Reserve - Raconteur - Aftershave
Welp, after planning on ending my 5+ year streak of daily shaves due to plumbing work being done at our house, it turns out I was able to get a nice hot shower and a nice relaxing shave. Our well was chlorine shocked yesterday, but I was able to run enough water to dilute it to levels that won't melt your eyeballs out!
I'll be able to shave tomorrow, too… but it'll be a cold water shave since they'll be starting work to replace the boiler.
You & I Will Die is really good. I don't like the name, but I love the scent.
I’ve been preferring cold water shaves recently. I find it’s kinder to my skin, for whatever reason.
I’ve noticed something similar, but warmth always wins.

- Brush: Zenith B44 28mm Boar
- Razor: Smart Helix Apollo (setting: 0.85 plate)
- Blade: Wilkinson Sword Black (6)
- Lather: Barrister and Mann - Amazelnut - Soap
- Toner: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
- Aftershave: Barrister and Mann - Leviathan - Aftershave
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
To me, this scent is always that of a hazelnut coffee with some cream. Love it. The Apollo (made in Ukraine) is a terrific DE razor. It’s stainless steel and has a long handle. I prefer a long handle, and really like the weight of this razor.

- Brush: Zenith 506U XS Horse 🐎
- Razor: GEM MMOC
- Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (28)
- Lather: Zingari Man Bon Monsieur
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: Zingari Man Bon Monsieur Recovery Splash
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
It’s been a long time since I last used a GEM razor – and it was slightly harsher as what I am used to with a straight. But it was a good and close shave.
Have a good Zingari Zischtig!

it was slightly harsher as what I am used to with a straight.
I get that. My post-shave skin feel is almost always better with a straight than from a shave with a manufactured blade. A new Personna GEM is pretty keen and will do quite well with low angle shaving in my experience.

- Brush: Zenith B15 (506 U/L) 27.5mm Boar
- Razor: H.M. Christensen 5/8 Hollow Ground Round Point
- Lather: Barrister and Mann - Vespers - Soap
- Toner: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
- Aftershave: Barrister and Mann - Vespers - Aftershave
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Second luxury shave.
This is definitely the season for Vespers. Great scent. Also, this was a test of an edge that was created on a new Translucent Arkansas. The shave was comfortable and close, but the edge did not wow me. This razor had a frown in it and I had to grind that out. I’m not sure if the repair left a wide bevel angle or if the stone has more to give. I’ll look into this tomorrow.

- Brush: Rubberset - 400 w/ Maggard SHD Badger
- Razor: RazoRock - GOAT
- Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
- Lather: Fanzine Saponifications - This is Not a Test - Soap
- Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Bay Rum - Aftershave
November 3rd, 2025: SLS
- Brush: AP Shave Co. Blue & Clear - Gelousy (A3) 28mm Badger
- Razor: GEM G-Bar
- Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (18)
- Lather: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique - Soap
- Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique - Aftershave
- Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique - EdP
This G-Bar is a nice shaver. It feels just as comfortable as my Flying Wing, with a touch more efficiency. I also like the little nub on the bottom of the handle more than I expected.
Ubrique might be my scent of the year, it's just so damn good.
The time change makes these posts an hour earlier. I should update it.
It’d be even better if you could just end DST for all of us.
I second that! DST is ludicrous IMNSHO.
I’ll make some phone calls.
I might have a few other jobs for you once this is done
Thirded, especially the stolen hour once “summer time” rolls around really fucks me up for weeks…

- Passes & Info: 1 pass on the head, 2 on the face around the moustache. While the shave itself was ok, the post-shave feel and results say that my skin didn’t like it: redness/razor burn on the cheeks and at the back of my head, plus a weird feeling of increased skin tension?
Today I took inspiration from @PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social and used a ZM soap together with the MMOC. I already thought yesterday that the amount of stubble around the stache would probably be better suited to an OC razor and a good skin food soap like ZM should really help with this aggressive razor…
… or so I thought. While the shave itself was really going well, I paid the price for my skin’s dislike of the current weather conditions. I usually never get razor burn in the cheek area and was really slow and careful with the MMOC stroke. My only explanation is being outside in the cold wind thanks to my nicotine addiction. But actually, my face was probably better off than the head. The MMOC is not really good for head shaving, a task much better suited to my 1912 or the Flying Wing/Bullet Tip. As for improvements in face shaving technique: I found it’s really crucial to get a nice area of contact with GEM-type SE razors, so I pulled the skin tight like I was using a shavette. I think this helped to avoid more irritation than the razor burn, as there was only one tiny little bloody spot right next to the moustache. I got a really sick burn from the ASB gel though, and that stuff is alcohol free so… Perhaps my technique still sucks. 🤷🏻♂️
Interesting that these GEM razors are so different

Definitely! Each has a different character, so to say.
November 4th, 2025: Bleusday
- Brush: Zenith/Stirling - 510SE-XL 31mm Boar
- Razor: Merkur 34C
- Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
- Lather: Stirling - Deep Blue Sea - Soap
- Post Shave: Stirling - Deep Blue Sea (+ menthol) - Aftershave
- Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
- Fragrance: Stirling - Deep Blue Sea - EdT
The 34C never fails to impress. It's such a good razor for me.
I'm a little worried a couple of the threads are getting worn down, so this one's days may be numbered. Time will tell!
A Bleu Teusday!! Nice!
It’s always a nice shave with DBS!
