From Blackland Prairie Raptor Center

For today’s Fix’em Fridays, we would like to share an update on patient 24-0072!

This great-horned owl has been growing so well! It is now living in an outdoor enclosure with an enclosure- mate! These two owls will continue to grow together, learn to fly together, and hunt together before their release

From last week when it first came in:

For today’s Fix-em Friday’s, we would like to show you our first nestling of 2023! Patient 24-0072 arrived to BPRC just over a week ago from Denton, TX. This great-horned owl arrived after falling from its nest high up in its tree. Our team found significant bruising on its leg, but did not find any broken bones. Luckily this patient has been healing well and is growing perfectly! It has almost figured out how to self- feed. For now we are dressed in camo to avoid imprinting.

This owl will continue in our care, and will be paired with an adult owl when it is a little older who will help it grow and develop.

Yes, with all the care of the world, it won’t be perfectly fine without one of its own.
