I remember that, Nexon?
I remember that, Nexon?
I haven’t - thanks for the tip! I’ve mostly been running Kubuntu vanilla, aside from changing some DNS configs.
Thank you, I’ll take a look at those!
Yeah, I wouldn’t say I’m a hater. I just have a healthy skepticism driven by statistics and a distaste for the way the breed is marketed/treated by people.
I recently got recommended her channel. She’s amazing, like Jenny Nicholson but for science.
Well, at least in connection with her:
Coined by English philosopher and historian of science William Whewell in March 1834 in an anonymous review of Mary Somerville’s book On the Connexion of the Physical Sciences in the Quarterly Review
I appreciate her telling it like it is and not bowing to a pressure to please.
Found an article speaking more about it, if anyone is curious about the context/her work.
As a noob who is only moderately tech savvy, how can I get started with selfhosting? Is it worth just buying a Pi to mess around with at first?
Neat, I will have to check that out! I’m guessing you can’t enable it on locked down work devices, however.
Hm, very curious.
Ditto, NextDNS has been great for that. I tried their paid version as well but downgraded since I never ran into that many queries. I’ve heard good things about quad9 too, which I think is European.
You have your Pihole setup at work?
Gene Wolfe is awesome.
Great resource! It’s so hard to find books that deal with complex themes these days and aren’t afraid to let their readers explore the world a bit.
Between Two Fires has such an interesting premise!
That is a fantastic cover!
I’ve had this on my list for a while. It’s pretty short, I really should get to it soon.
Fair enough! I do like both fantasy and sci-fi, but haven’t been reading as much of the latter lately. I think Murderbot could be a good segue to get back into it.
Even cis Germans probably should not go, given recent events.
Also the popularity of eugenics began in the US. You even read about it in The Great Gatsby.
