There is a regular governmental press conference, usually monday, wednesday and friday where the speakers of the chancellor and the ministries are invited by an independant journalist organization. The organization is called Bundespressekonferenz.
Since about ten years the journalist Tilo Jung is recording most of the press conferences and uploading them to his youtube channel I highly recommend you to watch the latest video on the massacre in Gaza. The current government called it an “tragic use of shooting weapons”.
I cannot find the specific video right now, because the topic of mass surveillance through automated scanning of messengers, or by allowing back doors has been a topic since at least the past 5 or 6 years. Please note that i was refferring not to this but the previous german government, albeit the current chancellor party SPD was also in the previous government and the chancellor Scholz was the last finance minister under Merkel.
If you believe my statement to be implausible without video evidence, i’d like to invite you to meet our former minister of defence in the current government, Lambrecht, who resigned after referring to the war in Ukraine as an opportunity to have met many nice people in a social media video. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-64288267
Before she was defence minister under this goverment, she was minsiter of justice under the previous government. There she demanded that all websites should hand passwords over to the police as demanded. When it was pointed out that there is no use with hashed passwords, she asked to just safe them in plain text then. Alongside where further demands for extensive backdoors, violation of encryption and automatic scanning. It took months of heavy criticism to get her to drop it, despite the main point being that most of what she proposed was in violation of other laws including EU regulation.

When asked about employing mass surveillance, in particular also spying on Journalists, Doctors and Lawyers, the previous German government replied, that it is fine if we do it. After all we are not like Russia, China or Saudi Arabia, so those people have nothing to fear…
If we could power the earth from Orwell turning in his grave, we would have solved cliamte change long ago.
Also this is data that any reasonable company could get in like half an hour of searching and asking.
There is data on how many meals are sold a day at the mensa, how many students are enrolled, how many students live on campus…
Unless the vending machine is in the last corner of the third floor of an half empty building, all this information can be puzzled together to get a good estimate of how many people are passing the machine on a day to day basis.
Because some of these actions might qualify as criminal offenses and if Discord had knowledge about it or even supported it, they’d be complicit.
Result of gender stereotypes affecting the behaviour of female and male children, so male children grow up to be more encouraged to learn about technology and engage in risk taking behaviour.
Also inclination to risk taking behaviour is much higher in biological men than biological women, which would also give a potential reason why this advertisment works on women but not on men.
As always these attributions only represent the average of the women and men populations as a whole. Ofc. there is risk averse men and tech savvy women.
i thought he was munching it into shape so it would fit the floppy drive.
I wouldn’t consider this a tragedy of the commons situation. People entrusted reddit to remain a somewhat acceptable company, and reddit betrayed that trust.
People didn’t purge their comments to remove this information from the public, but they purged it from reddit making money off limiting the access to this information.
For the right to be forgotten, this only applies to personal information. E.g. information that can be associated with information, that could be used to identify you.
Since you usually have an email for signup, that would make the data fall under personal information. But reddit could just delete the email adress and your user name and show something like:
[deleted]
When does the Narwhal bacon?
And well, it is pretty difficult to find out if, when and where there is backups that still contain your information and could be given to the AI model trainers too. To find these things out, we’d need a precedence case that makes a data protection agency investigate reddit throughouly.
my layman understanding would be, that they include it in the TOS and your only option would be to leave the platform and demand them to delete all your content, which they may or may not do. E.g. they could just train the AI on an older backup. Good luck getting your rights recognized and abided by.
The IP helped the Internet to establish. But once established we see trends to try to limit the very technology into propriety. Think of the Facebook internet access schemes that tried to make everything go through facebook. Think of the attempts to make priviledged and throttled websites based on what the ISP likes…
When Podcasts were new, the open standard was embraced, but now we see attempts to make them exclusive too. Just that they didn’t prevail yet.
I do but ye cant see mi face on the loicence photo anyways
Legislators could just offer a very easy solution. They could simply mandate copyright holders to offer the copyright to all interested parties at a fair price. If content ist held back or only exclusively distributed through one party it should go public domain, as the holder of the rights clearly does not intend to profit in a legitimate way from.
The intend of copyright is to make sure, that the holder of the right can get a fair compensation. It is not the intend that his work is abused to manipulate the markets.
All we can do is 50k and some fruits in the office.
Look at piracy, torrenting, usenet, etc. So long as people can make encrypted connections, crypto will continue.
Do you mean cryptography in general or cryptocurrencies in particular? Because cryptocurrencies ultimately do need an interface with other currencies, or some economy, where you can pay with them. If you cannot buy any real product or service with it, it has no value. Lets take Darknet market drug dealers for instance. They are not selling drugs because they like bitcoins and buy other drugs for themselves with it. They are selling drugs and exchanging the bitcoin into some fiat currency, so they can buy normal stuff with it.
I meant in the sense, that if you had to install a new OS on a device, doing a beginner friendly linux distro is easier than bypassing TPM requirements and then dealing with the fallout of that in Windows 11.
I trust you not to ask your aunt to install an OS by herself.
Still with any individual currency there is a market where mandated by law you can pay in this currency, or where you can pay taxes in that currency. So zheir value has a real and a speculative part. Crypto only has a speculative part and that part is often and strongly influenced by deliberate manipulation.
And if yet another crypto currencies is pushed it is highly questionable if there is a serious intent to deliver on the promises made to its laternuse or how much is just scamming people into an ICO and then running with that money.
You said it yourself. Crypto has nothing to stabilise its value. It is entirely speculative. There is three options to make money with crypto. Sell it to someone that believes in it more than you do. Sell it to someone that believes he can make more of a quick buck than you, or have the gamble work, that it ends up becoming a legit payment system and have the value explode and stabilise there.
In the first two cases you just try to fuck over another gambler. In the third case you yourself gamble.
It is always possible that the hype collapses or crypto gets banned globally. Whoever is left holding it then got scammed by the others.
While in the beginning many investors believed it to become a viable payment system eventually, now most are just looking to not be the last in line to get scammed.
That sounds a hell lot more complicated than installing a linux distro like mint or ubuntu.
Like many people with the reddit exodus.
But i also got quite annoyed with the main German communities shifting more and more to the right and the moderators of the largest german subreddit to tolerate and enable transphobic and racist discussions, e.g. when there was some tabloid “news” on either topic shared.
I dont know how much of it was because the communities were more and more targeted by organized far right propaganda and how much was the moderators of the /r/de subreddit sharing such viewpoints.
Those trends already happened for some years, getting particularly worse with covid.
