Playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, killing demons and dragons, making alliances, removing obstacles. I can see why people loved this game so much.

I finished The Last Campfire soon after posting like week’s thread.

Started The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the first time ever, on Switch using NSO subscription. I was expecting a very dated gaming experience, but it doesn’t feel too bad. The gameplay is still fun. There was some issue with getting used to the controls on Switch, but I think I have gotten the hang of it now. Basically have to remember to not use right stick, and things work out fine.

I have left the forest, and am now in Goron dungeon. Got slightly stuck in couple of places but not enough to look up anything yet, it’s still early in the game though, so who knows how it goes.

Edit: I dropped Helldivers 2, while the game seems really fun, it just isn’t for me. I am not sure why exactly, but I think it’s because the game has no narrative and no proper end point. I like to play and finish the games, but can’t do that if game never finishes.

What about all of you? What have you been playing, or planning to play over the weekend?

I’m still playing through the Perfect Dark campaing on Switch. As you mention with OoT, once you get used to the controllers, you don’t mind anymore. I thought maybe N64 games hadn’t aged well since the 3D graphics were right from the start of the transition into 3D, with not too many polygons. But the gameplay is still fun, which is the main thing. And the old graphics have their charm!

I also had some friends come over and since one of them had mentioned she liked Bubble Bobble, I got Bubble Bobble 4 Friends. I wouldn’t get it for myself, but it turns out to be really fun and chaotic on couch co-op with 3 other people. It starts easy and gets quite challenging, mostly when there’s so much stuff on screen (or I’m old), but I guess that’s the goal.

Recently started Indivisible. I’m really enjoying the gameplay, and the animation, art direction, and characters are wonderful.

Yeah, the game looks great, it has been on my wishlist since they announced it. Do share your opinions after finishing the game.

Continuing with my wizard’s island in Animal Crossing, although I’m more just putting my daily time in right now. I finally worked up the drive to continue on my Minecraft chateau build, so that’s eating most of my creative energies right now.

I’m about halfway through Paper Mario at this point. I remember the 10HP run being a bit more difficult, I don’t even find myself using Sweet Treat on the occasional free turn anymore. And I only use items once in a blue moon, too.

What I like most about the remake so far is the battle music getting a different remix for every area.

Played a lot more Yakuza Kiwami 2. Had some issues with the game crashing, but a fresh install fixed that. Unlocked the Majima Construction game, which I’m not a huge fan of. I’d like it more if it was turn based or if you could pause and look around the field. Or just a way to zoom out at least, I tend to lose sight of my units. But yo, I had no idea Keiji Muto and Masahiro Chono were the main villains of that story! I freaked out when they first walked into the scene (and kudos to the people who modeled the faces, I recognized Muto immediately!). And then other New Japan Wrestlers join my side as well? I know they appear in a later Yakuza title, but I had no idea they got recycled into this one.

I also have yet to see anything on the Completion List that stops me from completing it. The previous games always had something that was just stupidly tedious.

You makes game so difficult, 10 HP run sounds pretty tough.

Who is Keiji Muto and Masahiro Chono? Japanese wrestlers? What are their in-game name?

The key to a 10HP run is honestly not to waste your turns. When you can end combat in one attack and have both Mario and his partner’s turn, use the extra turn to top off your HP/FP with Sweet Treat or Appeal to get the Star Power back. Also, know your Stylish Moves for extra Star Power. It fills up so fast that you can regularly toss out the quite OP Earth Tremor whenever you’re full on everything. No need to run around with full resources. I also like the Badges that randomly regenerate you and the defense increases are also very important.

Muto and Chono are retired wrestlers from Japan (the former being more famous in the West as The Great Muta). An in-game they also use their real names. Yakuza tends to have real people make cameo apperances, but most of them wouldn’t be well known outside of Japan. Some characters appearing in side quest feel like they would be based on real people based on the way they talk about being famous, but I wouldn’t know.

Another crazy week, this time both at work and personal life, but at least this time I managed to sneak some gaming progress.

    Playing Senren * Banka!

Completed the first chapter, but I imagine I’m still quite early in the game since I haven’t even met the last of the main heroines.

Story continues to be fun slice-of-life mixed with some supernatural elements. Favorite character is definitely Mako, the mischievous ninja bodyguard.

    Playing Sea of Stars!

I usually avoid playing two longer story-driven games at the same time, but needed something with a bit more gameplay to help me get through this week, so I decided to start this one as well.

Loving the pixel art and the Mario-RPG style battle system with timed attacks. Too early to comment on the story asides from the fact that the flashback near the beginning dragged at bit too much for my tastes.

As for characters, the “Warrior Cook” Garl is great but the two main protagonists still feel kinda bland, let’s hope we see more of them as the game progresses.

It keeps happening to me. Started a game on PS5, wanted something portable, so started one on Switch too. Both were slowish games, so started an action game. All these games requires somewhat long session so started one that can be played in small bursts…

Sea of Stars is pretty high on my wish list, so will probably play it within 2 years or so…

I really enjoyed this game. It’s no Chrono Trigger but it was enough to give me that hit of nostalgia that I craved.
