The BBC Arabic article claimed “fanatic Jews” fighting Roman invaders in ancient Jerusalem were the first example of suicide bombers.

“Suicidal military missions” are quite different from terrorism. What a silly attempt at an analogy.

That said. Terrorism is far from uniquely a Muslim tactic - it’s quite effective and had been used extensively in the past over and over again.

BBC Arabic performing a staggering amount of mental gymnastics attempting to justify that opinion. What’s even the goal? Excusing radical Islamic bombings because “The Jews did it first!”??

Did you read the original? On the anniversary of 9/11 they published a side article talking about a timeline of suicide attacks throughout history. The Jewish far right objected that they were listed among the others (even though they literally celebrate those fanatics).

Even further back than that. The Bible celebrates Samson committing a suicide attack on the Philistines. The Jewish far right praises modern Israeli terrorists like Baruch Goldstein by comparing them to Samson.

I did read the article, and my comment stands.

Despite the clickbait and predictable outrage from the far right, the BBC originally published l an article titled “the story of suicide bombers throughout history: From the fanatical Jews, through the assassins, to the jihadists.” Suicide attacks go back as far as the Bible, as I said above.
