Oppenheimer was great, and is arguably in my top 5 movies of all time, but it’s one of those movies I need to digest and think about, which isn’t what I’m looking for in a movie 9/10 times.
There’s a disconnect between what people want to watch and what is getting produced, but that gap seems to be closing in the last few years. There’s a place for both Art and Content in Cinema, and we shouldn’t forget that.

Unfortunately I’m in the minority on Oppie. It did literally nothing for me–other than frustrate and bore me, I’m sorry to say. I was even disappointed technically: I went all-out and saw it at one of the 15-perf, 70mm, true-IMAX theaters, and it just did NOT look very special to me. I ended up leaving about 90 minutes in. Perhaps being familiar with Oppenheimer’s story didn’t help? A big swing, and a big miss for me.
Im the exact opposite, even on the second watch I was thrilled, and didn’t even see in imax. Personally really liked how the movie built tension, even while most of it is dialogue.
Yeah? Well I loved Zardoz. I think it is actually good, philosophical social scifi. Don’t let Sean Connery’s mankini distract you from the story.
