I am currently using 40g coffee to 500g water which is 12.5g coffee to 1g water but I have seen things like this https://www.olympiacoffee.com/blogs/blog/how-to-brew-like-olympia-coffee#:~:text=For those of you who,use 16.7 grams of water. which suggest using a little more. Does it even matter to adjust the ratio precisely if I don’t have a precision grinder and am using a Krups blade grinder? I am trying to get things as precise as possible.
It depends. I bought a good but not really fast hand grinder (commandante c40) and despite myself being lazy I really like it for single person pour overs, which I do most of the time since my SO doesn’t drink coffee. However, when I have guests and need to grind a bigger dose (>30g), I get a little bit annoyed at how much work it is. So I’d probably recommend getting an electric grinder if you do those portions all the time.
My uncle thought his Hario Skerton Pro and siphon setup was elite, I just thought it took ages.
