I figured I’d try out lemmy on a problem I am having with my recent prints. If you’d like to help, see the following videos of the two models I have been having Issues with:

  1. Eevee
  2. Circus Elephant

Some things I see are: A. Under Extrusion on the nose and eyes on the eevee B. Some weird sharp plastic extrusions near the base of the right ear of the eevee. C. The key on the elephant’s forehead D. The elephant’s ears and any place there a geometry change due to a feature.

I am using a P1P with 0.4mm brass nozzle, using generic silk pla settings. Filament is Mkoem 2 Color in 1 Co extrusion Silk PLA.

I am happy to supply more detail or specific print settings, but right now, I’d like to understand:

I. Why it is happening? II. How to fix the quality of the print. III. What are some preventive maintenance activities that I should be performing.

The links are to Youtube. The Circus Elephant is by Flexi Factory and can be found on Patreon. The Eevee is by Filament’s Folly and can be found on Patreon.

[Solved] The problem was with the volumetric flow rate. When I ran a calibration, I found optimal settings which reduced the VFA.
