I’m running a supermicro 2U server with the following specs:
- Case: Supermicro CSE-829U 19" 2U
- Motherboard: X10DRU-i+
- CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2690 v3 @ 12 x 2.60GHz
- CPU Cooling: SNK-P0058PSU passive heatsink
- Storage Controller: Adaptec ASR-71605 16-Port 6G SAS/SATA Raid Controller
- PSU: 1 x Supermicro 1000W PSU
- HDD: 8x Seagate Exos X16 16TB
- SSD: 960GB 2,5" Samsung PM883
- NVME: 128GB
- Network: Supermicro AOC-STG-i2T Intel X540-T2 2x 10GbE Dual Port
- RAM: 64GB Registered ECC DDR4 SDRAM (2x 32GB DIMM)
- Fans: 5x Arctic P8 Max
My server is running 24/7 with a torrent client so I cannot really spin down my HDDs to save power. I already have this custom script running to optimize my fan speeds and maybe save some power there.
When the server is running without doing any extra tasks it pulls about 150 - 165 W.
What are some tips on reducing or saving power on my server?
Note: I can replace some of the components if neccessary, but I cannot afford a full rebuild of the server with more modern hardware.

I would suggest upgrading the CPU (and motherboard) to something newer like a recent i5. That should reduce your power usage by a decent amount
