Trevor, the Eurasian eagle owl, became very alert when he realized a staff member had come into his area. Birds can adjust the position of their feathers, and this is one of the best ways to understand what a bird is thinking. Reading bird body language is very important to help keep our birds comfortable and happy. Trevor went from very relaxed to very alert when an unexpected person appeared. Alert does not necessarily mean upset though. Trevor begins hooting at the end of the video because it is one of his favorite trainers.

      It does sounds like when a pet knows you’re about to walk through the door. So not necessarily food coming, but something positive anyway. 😁
