So I’ve been putting off upgrading the fence on my trusty Rigid 4512 for a few years.
I’ve got a big cabinet project coming up and of course my fence of choice, the Vega 40 Pro is no longer available.
Anybody have experience upgrading the 4512 and have any recommendations?
EDIT: Considering Delta T30 and Shop Fox W2005.
I inherited an old Delta table saw from the 80’s. The fence on it was in horrible shape when I got it. After a ton of research, I ended up getting the Shop Fox W2005 Classic Fence with Standard Rails.
The fence itself is great. Slides easy. Locks in place and stays there. Easy to adjust.
It took a little time to get aligned properly. After messing with it for a day or so, I bought guage to ensure it is 1/128" off square from the miter slot. Once it was set, I’ve had no issues.
Overall, I highly recommend it, if it is in your budget.
Oh MY!!! it’s like $500!!! wow. That must be a very nice fence indeed. Mine is the one that came with my Rigid saw and it’s not great. Also the miter guage fell apart. Shoot. I need some upgrades.
It wasn’t $500 when I got it. I think it was $350 at the time. Although it might have just been on sale.
Got a recommendation for a good gauge while we’re at it? 1/128th would be a dream.
This is the one I have. I take the batteries out of it after each use, otherwise it drains it. That’s my only complaint with it.
That’s a beauty for sure. Do you find it limiting that it has a 25" maximum rip? Adding it to my wishlist, but as of now $300 or so is probably my limit.
Locally that fence costs nearly $700! sheesshhhh
EDIT: Hold on…may have found it for $400. :)
In general, If I need to cut off more than its capacity, I’m using a circular saw with a track or straight edge.
As for the price, I wasn’t aware it was so high. I paid $350 for it. I think it was a holiday sale or something like that.
I have a jobsite saw, not a cabinet saw.
Half the reason i ended up getting a Dewalt is the rack and pinion fence. Not having to worry about the square of the fence (except to double check once in a while) is absolutely great.
