I greatly enjoyed this part:

Mr. Trump wants him to attack witnesses, attack what the former president sees as a hostile jury pool, and attack the judge, Juan M. Merchan.
Perhaps you meant “ardent support”? “Verdant” means ‘green’, and is a word you would use to describe a lawn or shrubbery. Perhaps a forest.
