It is extremely annoying to just scroll and all of a sudden everything refreshes and I have to look for that post I was about to click on :(
It’s a bug. They are currently working to fix it, but only happens on desktop and mobile web browser. The apps don’t do it. But I did have a problem with it keeping me logged in on apps.

Yep, I was just about to say this. The next release of Lemmy should remove this.
The pages auto-update using a technology called WebSockets. It’s cool tech and very effective for some uses (e.g. chat apps) – but in this case the implementation causes stuff to jump around the page as it updates.
But as has already been said, WebSockets are being removed from 0.18.0. So that’ll mean no more auto-updating page content / comments / notifications too.

Yeah, it is annoying when that happens. Luckily the consensus from the comments seems to be that it will be removed in a future version not far from now.
