That’s really great to hear. I’m currently on CalyxOS and, besides the Google crap added to stock, it’s very close to the last time I used stock (granted, it’s been a hot minute). Next phone will likely be GrapheneOS, as I believe my posture has shifted since I decided on CalyxOS, and the lack of persistent notifications for background tasks (such as Signal) was the main deterrent that allowed me to settle into a more relaxed posture.
If the app offers a feedback option through the app itself, I usually use it. But if I have to go into a git for feedback, I usually don’t. Nothing against git, I just don’t ever remember when I’m in front of the computer. [I, too, would enjoy an android app. On fdroid, if at all possible, but playstore is fine, too, if you don’t want to foss your project.]
[Edit]
I mean… they do have protein, fruits, and such, so, yes. But I was craving some pasta. I guess a crepe is like a sweet pasta. I did feel the craving vanish… …
I was traveling this week, and saw a couple very obviously AI-generated billboards for the city’s downtown. Something about downtown eats or something. They were, and I’m being extremely nice here, absolutely hideous. I have never, in all my life, seen such ugly billboards. And, while they were different, they were basically the same thing (does that make sense? Them being different, but the same? Not really sure how else to describe it). I was actually looking for a place to eat, and those things deterred me from going downtown. Ended up finding this cute little coffeeshop in some random side road. No food, but holy crap the coffee and crepes were good!
Agreed. Probably the only One of the good thing about the win98 BSOD is that it crashed/froze along with the computer, and the PC required a hard reboot. Yeah, I know, not intentional, but it allowed me to fully read the message.
Edit: crossout
This looks EXACTLY as I imagined!
A QR code created from the actual fault text would be super helpful. That way we can scan it and get the full error message (details and all) on another device without having to snap a picture or something. But not like windows does it, where it’s a link to a defunct page. I’m taking about the actual text transcoded into a QR code.
You don’t have a persistent (albeit silent) notification for Signal and still receive push notifications? If so, my next OS may just be GOS.
The fine tuned controls are different than stock android? I thought GOS doesn’t alter the stock experience (more than is required to decrapify the OS)?
Oof. I felt the heat from that burn from all the way over here
Are persistent notifications still a requirement for background apps, such as Signal? One of the reasons I switched to CalyxOS. Not the Signal persistent notification specifically, but it, in combination with all the others I needed running in the BG, made it very difficult to not miss new notifications. I like CalyxOS just fine, but I agree with you on GrapheneOS. I was very excited that it was exactly as I’ve always wanted android to be (but wasn’t), except for those persistent notifications.
What is colloquially called stalking, isn’t actually stalking. Stalking involves a level of fear by the stalked party [or a level of intended harm by the stalking party].
[Edit] to include a little more clarification.
That translates to “one of lime and the other of sand”. I don’t understand. Can you explain?
Then don’t give them your email http://www.guerrillamail.com
For now, yes. But as more enterprise software (like ERPs) move to the cloud, client-side software will become less and less required. Even Microsoft office is pushing cloud apps. The end result of this, in its current trajectory, is that it won’t matter what OS a client has, so long as it has a supported web browser.
And for those that don’t sprechen die Deutsch, “postponed is not canceled!”
That’s never really been a priority for them. Can you get something wrong that you weren’t trying to get right in the first place?
I don’t think they care about that, either. In my experience, they care about not getting sued. That’s it.
People care to say they care, but don’t actually care at all.
These two remind me of the early Apple fanboys, completely talking around all the bad parts and focusing only on perceived good parts. Except, here, they’re fan-ing on a decision that was made a long time ago (using tempered glass on side windows) for exactly the reason they state is ‘bad’–it explodes into a bunch of non-sharp shards. This decision was made, and agreed upon by auto manufacturers, to prevent people getting stuck in cars on fire. Internal mechanical releases do nothing when the person inside is unconscious or is a toddler, as is in this case.
