  • I had a Kenmore (I think the mfg was Char Broil) for 29 years and only had to change out the burners and the like once. The bottom tray finally rusted and it needed some other t.l.c. but no parts could be found. I got a Pit Boss pellet/gas combo at the end of last season. Smoke side is awesome, Gas side is good with some unevenness (hot & cold spots). The whole thing seems to be well built with heavy gage powder coated or anodized aluminum parts. Will see how it holds up.

I had the same thing happen the chipboard just gave way because it could not hold up to the weight of the flatware and eventually just crumbled and pulled off. I fixed it by re making the the sides back and front out of a piece of trex decking I has left over and just cut it to the same size with the same rabbits, etc then assembled it with brad nails and gorilla glue. I reused the bottom as it was still in good shape.

Also, what is that on your counter, ice breaker? Motorcycle peg?

  • Looks like the power supplies and cage for some kind of specialized rack unit (old telecom maybe). The panel on the top has a bunch of high wattage resisters on it and I would guess that part is a load testing jig for the power supply section. If you could get a better picture of the label on the card maybe able to find what it is. As for valve you would have to go with “specialized cage with burned out power supplies” and maybe even consider it a negative value for the lot because if you win you would have to dispose of it.

  • I also have a VPN set up to my home network that I can connect to with my mobile devices. once connected I use the HA mobile app pathed to my local HA server IP. I don’t use HA cloud or any other cloud service. It works well for me, I obviously can’t get notification on the mobile when not connected but I have not had a need yet. If/When I’m do want notifications I would most likely explore, e-mail, e-mail to SMS, SMS API or something that won’t involve external servers. I would not want to send sensitive info via SMS but a shot alert that said there is something to look at like “HA Alert: Motion detected cam 1” or such would be fine.

  • Looks like a antique double pole single throw switch (DPST) meaning it has two single switches connected mechanically but separate electrically (it can switch on and off two circuits at the same time). The contacts look fairly beefy so I would guess it could handle fair amount of current and the lock may have been to just keep people from getting shocked. Might have been the cutoff for the power to the bell board.

Edit: Looked around and can’t find one like that. Is there a plate on it anywhere? Could you show the cover and back of the box.
