  • That’s wild, I’ve put dozens, maybe even hundreds, of days print time onto my MK3S+, never followed any maintenance regimen. The only issue I’ve ever had was with the MMU2S, and it was a printed part so I just printed another and it’s been going for days print time again. Voron is a sweet beast, if you go that way, buy a kit. Self sourcing was an expensive endeavor and frustrating at times.

Did you build your MK3S+ or buy a prebuilt?

  • I’m not in tech, I’m in manufacturing, and I’ve become trapped in my job because wages in the industry have gone down by about 10% in the last year. Thankfully I’m grandfathered in from the relatively high wage I got in the post covid wage rises, but my raises have been sub inflation two years in a row. Even going by the entirely bullshit official government inflation numbers, my real wage has gone down since I started.

Prices on housing and food are so sky high, that I can’t even get approved for a one bedroom apartment or studio despite making $60k, because they’re charging 55% of my after tax wage per month. I don’t live on the coasts, either. The job I came from before this was paying me $21/hr, and is now offering $16/hr, which is literally less than Taco Bell and just above minimum wage. Food and other transient monthly costs are so high now that after feeding my family and paying my bills, I’ll be able to save about $3k this year, down from 8.5k last year.

  • BYD assembly line workers make $40k US on average, where are you getting your numbers? And $40k in China is literally like having over $100k in the US in terms of buying power.

You can buy and have delivered fresh made food for $3 US. You can rent a studio in a large city for $250/mo including Internet (250mbps) and utilities. How do I know? My wife lives and works in China, in a 20m person city center, and pays exactly that.

Min wage varies across provinces, but on average it’s about ¥30/hr, or about $4.15/hr. So no, electric car workers aren’t making $3/hr. They’re making more than my wife, and she’s making more than that. She also has guaranteed sick time built in on a federal level, triple overtime for working on holidays(which they have more of than we do), and they just passed a law mandating workers democracy in all public and private companies that will be implemented soon. I hate when people talk out their ass about things they have no idea about.
