  • Are bikes hard to come by where you live? I wouldn’t pay money for a rusted one. I just grabbed a late 80s mid range road bike for that price. If the cassette or other parts start giving you trouble you could spend $100 more just restoring it and huffys are known for installing the cheapest components. Just ride it and don’t go chasing gremlins you might find a better used bike next time.

    If the chain is rusted, replace that. Also check the brake pads, if they are crumbly replace them. In my experience colored tires are lousy with puncture protection so if you start getting a lot of flats you may want to grab some better tires on Amazon. Have fun and stay safe! I commuted for 20 years and the countless near misses definitely leaves a toll on you.
