  • Honestly, the rabid part of the fuck cars crowd are letting perfect become the enemy of good enough for now. The sort of thing they want could never stand a chance of happening. Not anytime soon, not under this breed of capitalism where corporations have a say in the government.

EVs are good enough to slow down emissions to the point where maybe our descendants will have enough time to shift public opinion and get rid of cars entirely. Until then, cars are going to stick around, best thing to do is compromise for now, and use the time bought to have a chance of getting everything you want later.

It’s the kind of thing that happens when a space gets big - the original purpose and culture of that space is gradually diluted and overwritten by what’s popular until it’s been washed away completely and is no different than what it was trying to distinguish itself from.

Frankly, it’s a phenomenon that I think the world could do without, but I can’t do much about it until the next harvest blood moon, when my powers are at their peak.

  • Nah, good zombie fiction, at least for my taste, requires that the zombies aren’t the main focus of the story. Sure, they’re there, and they’re the most omnipresent threat, the whole reason the world is the way it is; but they should be background stuff, for the most part. What you really want is to focus more on something like, I dunno, man’s inhumanity to man or something like that.

In this case, having a zombie-savvy cast can actually massively improve some of the more hard-hitting moments. For example: instead of choosing to shoot the bad guy or leave him stranded in the desert, the choice is shoot him in the head to give him a quick and painless or do the practical thing and not waste the ammo when the zombies everywhere will do the job just fine. Slower and more painfully, but it’ll get done just the same.

So yeah, those are my thoughts.
