Retroactively justifying the existence of vanity plates.
Retroactively justifying the existence of vanity plates.
I remember when I used to be able to find dedicated message boards for bands that I liked. Now I’m lucky if there’s a subreddit where it’s just a bunch of people submitting poorly drawn fan art of the band.
Another day, another moment of being thankful for my dedicated .mp3 player.
This won’t affect me - seeing as I have no use for Instagram - but I do worry that some actual DECENT sites will adopt this in the near future.
Perhaps they shouldn’t have driven away a significant number of their most engaged content creators.
We need more people to talk about this. The GOP is doing everything they can to steal the election before the fact…and then if they still lose, then they’ll switch to plan B. It’s a critical moment in our democracy.
Privacy isn’t dead, but it will be soon because those of us who seriously care about it are the 0.001%.
The “Blocked since install” stat on uBlockOrigin is always an eye-opener.
I used to have one WAY back in the day. It was fun to play around with the HTML stylings, though things like frames did NOT age well, lol.
I miss the old Internet where you could easily find information, fan sites, etc. Now it’s all crappy social media and shit blogs where you have to scroll through a bunch of garbage before you find out that the person doesn’t really know what they’re talking about anyway.
And your eyes are watering, so you make some sort of excuse to cover them.
And then you try to get clever and tease the lie out of them by asking certain questions, but then the questions themselves backfire on you because you end up including information that you had no business knowing.
This would have been a hilarious Dexter gag.
And Star Trek.
You know that some guest DJ is going to play Rick Astley all hour long.
This is a wonderful idea! I’ll definitely be following this project.
I use one every day. I could probably write an essay on why, but one reason sticks out: tactile buttons. It’s great to be able to skip a track without having to poke around on a screen to find the virtual button.
I love the small-town feel of it. It almost feels like the old-school forums, where you felt like part of a community.
The relative sparsity of comments is a major negative, but I’m hopeful that that’ll change with time.
And you’d better believe that they’ll have twice-a-year price hikes, Netflix-style.
“You wouldn’t download a car.”
“You wouldn’t hit mute during the commercials on a television broadcast.”
Edit: Thank you, kind stranger!
