Maybe it’s the news I’ve been consuming recently, but I feel like this makes for a great political comic.

For those, like me, who had never heard of BRICS before this article.
BRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates. Originally identified to highlight investment opportunities,[1] the grouping evolved into a cohesive geopolitical bloc, with their governments meeting annually at formal summits and coordinating multilateral policies since 2009.
The intentional injection, release, or dispersion, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or apparatus within the borders of this state into the atmosphere with the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight is prohibited,
So just bring a camera to film it and say the express purpose is to make art, educational videos, documentaries, study dispersal patterns, etc.
It’s totally cool to affect the environment accidentally or as a biproduct of another activity.
The general take away is “Surveillance is oppression and it is the responsibility of the people to stand up against oppression”.
A few other quotes I like that fit the theme.
“People shouldn’t be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.”
— V (V for Vendetta)
“Without privacy, you can’t have anything for yourself. Saying you don’t care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is like saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.”
— Edward Snowden
I’ve got my Plex server running on an Intel NUC 8 with 2 USB 2TB solid state drives serving as local storage for my media.
I wonder if mRNA vaccine treatment for cancer is what they are referencing.
From what I was able to understand (and maybe somebody can correct anything I’ve gotten wrong), the “vaccine” is tailored on a per-individual basis to target key protein markers of a petients particular cancer. This allows the body to identify and start to attack the cancer where previously the immune system would not be able to tell the difference between healthy and cancerous cells.

I wasn’t sure about the build up, but you nailed it.
OMG! IT’S HAPPENING! My natural talents, which I have been diligently practicing and honing my entire life are finally given a chance to be properly recognized!
Without knowing where you are, what type of person you are, or what type of person your date is, I’m gonna make a generic suggestion of some sort of class (cooking, pottery, wood turning, stained glass, painting, etc) that look interesting. Something that the two of you can learn together and have fun with.
Diversity and exposure to new ideas.
Whether I agree with the idea or not, breing exposed to so many different points of view changes how I look at various topics. Sometimes it reinforces and strengthens my position and sometimes I change my stance.
I feel like Reddit (and now Lemmy) allow me to engage / listen to discussions on an issue. Discussions that involve a wide assortment of different viewpoints. It’s hard to find that in most places on the internet.
I like to think that Lemmy is transitioning from early adopters to First Followers (to take from this Ted talk
If only 10% of new users stay, they start to build out new servers and communities. As Reddit continues to degrade, some (maybe even most) of those 90% will start to trickle back, creating lasting growth and widespread adoption (vs the casual tourism).
Anybody else see this as a commentary on political elections?
