  • I use this adapter with Sony earbuds with my Pixel 4xl and they’ve been solid for years.

USB Type C to 3.5mm Female Headphone Jack Adapter, JSAUX USB C to Aux Audio Dongle Cable Cord Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S23 S23+ S23 Ultra, S22 S21 S20 Plus/Ultra, iPad Pro, MacBook, Pixel (Grey) https://a.co/d/4xdLdDF

If you can’t find what you’re hoping for, I can at least vouch for the reliability of this adapter with my (dated) Pixel phone.

  • You could try Ingress, it was the game that Niantic built Pokémon on top of.

Not sure if it would be interesting for a kid, would depend on how old they are. And requires a lot of screen time. You have to fight over locations on the map, it really motivates you to go to “just one more” location.

There is also an item in the game that produces items for you, but requires you to walk certain distances.

    🤷🏻

  • I’ve been loving it, feels good to be using it again. Lemmy isn’t as active as I would love it to be (especially in the topics I’m interested in), but being able to scroll around using Sync has really motivated me to be active here. I hope that happens with more people.

I really wish I could submit posts using the app, and there are a couple of the features that feel like should be basic functions that require a subscription to use. Happy to support the developer, but I don’t like subscription models and not sure if there’s enough value here for me (yet) to justify a one-time $99 payment.

I’d also love it if the “no more posts loaded. Retry?” toast message would time out and fade away. It ends up blocking some of the info for the last post it loaded at the bottom of the screen, and it just doesn’t leave!

  • I use a program called Blockada on my phone. (get it from their website, not from the Play Store) Blockada runs a VPN locally on your device to filter all ad traffic from your data usage.

You can whitelist specific site requests that are getting blocked, or whitelist whole apps to allow ads in them specifically.

I never saw ads in Sync (I presume because of my system-wide ad blocking), but I went ahead and purchased ad-free to support the continued development of Sync.

  • Sounds like I’m (at least) already there, I’ve been gaming since I was a kid and can count on one hand the number of things over the years I’ve let go. Including all the cardboard from every game and system I purchased.

I’m also with you on your philosophy regarding finishing games. I play to play, and it doesn’t matter if the game is over or I get 100% completion. And if I come across a game in my library that I don’t enjoy… I still don’t get rid of it, I may come back a year or two later and find that it clicks with me then. 🤷🏻
