I can tell you as a member of a marginalized community that that’s not actually accurate.

French toast. I think the egg gives it a bit of a boost.
Honestly, I just looked up recipes for waffles and pancakes. The main difference I’m seeing is some waffles have vanilla extract… and that’s basically the main thing. I prefer waffles, largely because of the texture and the little syrup pods, but otherwise I can go with either one.
You’re not wrong. The basic premise of it seems fine. We have money, which can be a convenient way to do trades. I work in one career, but it doesn’t give me food. Instead I get food from the store. And they need it from the farmers. But having food doesn’t provide them with their other needs, so they go to another specialist. But that specialist doesn’t get everything they need, so they come to me. So using cash is a convenient way of exchanging goods and services.
And some people enjoy running a company. They see a product people need or want, and maybe it’s something they also need or want, and they enjoy making it, so they make a business out of it.
The basic premise of it makes sense. I prefer us to have another system, especially since I can see the issues with it. But for the most part, I also wouldn’t hate it as much if we weren’t in the over aggressive form of capitalism we have now.
If you cut one in half then mathematically you have 2 1/2 apples. Or 2 0.5 apples. Which still equals one apple. I get where you’re going with this, and it does actually make more sense with deeper math to an extent, but I also do kind of agree with the others that generally it’s not that deep in math.
I would say math and science are a little more linked. Like “Can we do this?” Test it. You have a hypothesis, so try and find out if you can. That’s basically the scientific method, but just using numbers and trying to find an answer.
But as I was finishing that last part, it made me question if I’m getting philosophical about math and what it is… so maybe?
I was sad when I went to the store the day after Christmas for Christmas chocolate on sale, and they were all out. Like I’m fine with it being seasonal. It’s something I would really just want with sweatpants and a blanket. But I would drink it all winter if available.
I would even argue January is a better time for it. It’s always colder in January.
I can see this, except the last point. Like just to start with, to assume Hamas is worse, IMO, only makes sense if you think it started on Oct 7th.
Like we watch Jim hit Greg
So Greg hits Jim
Obviously, Jim is the issue…
Except Greg has hit Jim every day for the last month. Every now and then Jim would do something to try and defend himself, or even attempt to fight back a bit, but Greg always won. Yet now we are cheering for Greg? Doesn’t make sense.
“But Hamas went after cutizens!”
Isreal has always gone after citizens. But sure, let’s go for scale.
Greg hits Jim every day for the last month.
Jim finally hits Greg
Greg takes a rusty shank to Jim’s neck
Jim is clearly worse than Greg.
“That’s exageration!”
Isreal has killed thousands of children, and openly thinks its great, and wants to kill even more. They actively are still targeting civilians.
But in timeliness and scale, Isreal is clearly the worst of the two. That doesn’t mean I support Hamas and them targeting the music festival. But I dont support Isreal openly committing war crimes, and saying they don’t give a fuck and will continue to do so. No one deserves shit like white phosphorus. Especially children who have nothing to do with this.
That’s honestly one of the biggest wtf things to me. Movies like that are old as fuck. How many people are still buying the DVD? Or paying to rent it? Not talking down on the movie itself. There’s a reason it’s still talked about. But honestly, it’s not making much, if anything.
Why not have it throw up on a streaming service? At that point, if I had the rights, and Netflix said they would pay me like $200 a week, I would probably still do it. That’s probably $200 more than what it’s currently making a week. Netflix gets to have it for cheap. And then the people who want to watch it get to.
But yet its a problem for us to pirate it?
Yeah, I saw people shooting on the guy for selling his PS4, but I was thinking it’s not that huge of a deal. I’m a gamer, so I got it, but it’s just a PS console.
But God damn that dude went way to far for a fucking ring.
I would say depending on the purpose, you can get some cheaper stuff. Like I’m not gonna expect people at a college party to make rum and cokes with the nice stuff. And they’re just shooting back tequila for fun.
But I also still wouldn’t get bottom shelf. Its still worth avoiding that. I worked at an Albertsons liquor store back in about 2010. You could get a handle of Albertsons brand liquor for $10. Was always tempted to get some just to see how bad it is, but could never force myself to do it.
I recently wanted an audiobook and found out it’s only available on Audible(because of course), so I resubscribed from when I had it about 5-6 years ago. Plan was to get the book and cancel again. They have also removed audiobooks from my account. Granted, they’re still available on audible. They weren’t taken off the service. I can buy them again. But it just shows they aren’t mine anymore.
From now on, I will pirate something before I subscribe again.
Feeling like a consumer is a great way to put it. It especially feels more and more like it when trying to do even the most mundane tasks. Like if you own a product but need to ask a question on Google about it, first you have to scroll past the links to pages trying to sell you the product you typed in, then you might get some reddit links, 2-3 from a smaller forum, and then more links trying to sell you the product. It will say there’s thousands of results, but it’s just the same 6 links to purchase the product over and over again. So now even basic web searches are mainly for buying stuff.
I think we can also show we didn’t do what people think what we did when we look at things on a time line.
WW2 ended in 1945.
Emmett Till was murdered in 55. 10 years later. Ruby Bridges went to what was an all white school in 1960. That was 15 years later. The Civil Rights Act happened in 1964. 19 years later. The MOVE Bombing happened in 85. 40 years later.
The Stonewall Riots happened in 69. 24 years later. The UpStairs Lounge Arson attack happened in 73. Which was 28 years later. Harvey Milk was assassinated in 78. 33 years later. The Shelby bookstore murders happened in 87. So 42 years after.
We can sit here and list different events all day that happened after the war. We were the good guys off fighting evil, and those soldiers would totally hate the bigotry we see today… Except there’s a good chance that tbe vast majority of them weren’t any better. Even the black soldiers still weren’t allowed to fight with the white ones. We were fighting fascism over there while it was still happening over here.
One of their first group letters had a quote from Hitler on it. And it wasn’t like the old memes where they didn’t know. They credited it as from Hitler. They pit a Hitler quote on the front page. Let that sink in. We get insulted for calling people Nazis and racists, but they literally put a quote from Hitler on the front page.
Makes sense to me. If it’s political for me to be able to get married because I’m gay, I don’t see why straight couples shouldn’t be up on the chopping block. So no employee better be wearing a ring.
Watching cartoons from my childhood. Not quite as so early it’s Nick Jr level. But like I’ve watched Hey Arnold so many times at this point(my favorite), Are You Afraid of the Dark?, the Angry Beavers, Ahhh Real Monsters, Pete and Pete. I was so happy to hear Paramount+ had a bunch of those shows… but then all the striking stuff happened so I just went back to my hard drive with a bunch of the shows.
They almost did, but then there was the whole thing with people getting stock and holding, and that actually ended up on helping GS. How long they will hold out is still debatable though. Mostly because of things like this post and the other comments. They used to be great, but because of stuff like that, i refuse to order from them at this point. And there’s a retro game store near me that actually has a ton of switch games. More than any GS I’ve been to. So I don’t see a reason to go into one in person. Not to mention the rise in digital games.
I use it for one of the niche communities I usually went to. But other than that, I stopped voting other subs. So much rage bait and bigotry. It’s only gotten worse since people started leaving. I just instantly go to the sub I want, check out some posts, which sometimes only take about a minute, and then leave.
I also jump around with this. Like I would definitely read more. But there’s a part of me that would love to write books. But also male music. But also paint. Basically I would do something in the realm of art.
I wouldn’t mind having a part time job doing something physical. Like I used to work at a warehouse for a medical supplies company. It was probably one of my favorite jobs. I could see myself doing that again. Gives me a reason to get out of the house, be active, and people will always need the supplies. Ironically I lost the job because we got bought out by one of the world’s largest corporations so they could make even more money, and they closed us down. So I lost that job because of capitalism.
Also, jobs. Like I know in general most places don’t give a shit. If it’s a shitty for profit university, maybe. But for the vast majority of the time, it doesn’t matter…
But this seems to be a little different. Maybe some of them should start caring about this.
I definitely feel like so many actual democrats are starting to show similar signs as MAGAts did. It’s been there to an extent, but holy shit is it getting bad. Now it’s either love him or you’re a borderline terrible person.
