To be fair, it only recently started growing again.

As long as it doesn’t become Reddit 2.0.
Same. I think it’s the smaller size of the community that mainly contributes to me posting more.
On reddit, if my post interests the same percentage of people I will have a lot more answer which makes it impossible to engage with all of them. And since people are less likely to respond I stopped posting on Reddit altogether.
That’s not entirely accurate anymore.
Yet mounting evidence from fossil and archaeological discoveries, as well as DNA analyses, has experts increasingly rethinking that scenario. It now looks as though H. sapiens originated far earlier than previously thought, possibly in locations across Africa instead of a single region, and that some of its distinguishing traits—including aspects of the brain—evolved piecemeal. Moreover, it has become abundantly clear that H. sapiens actually did mingle with the other human species it encountered and that interbreeding with them may have been a crucial factor in our success.
Doesn’t mean your company didn’t bet on the wrong horse. Luckily we stay far away from anything Google touches, but I have friends in other companies who weren’t as lucky.
Anyone tried the KDE variant with nvidia?
I don’t think it’s paranoid. Best case scenario, they really are using your data ineffectively, which imo is still bad because you are not getting any benefit from it. But worst case scenario is a government coming into power that abuses this data to extents we can’t possible fathom today.
Same. I mean, I don’t do it now either. But I also never used to.
What’s funny is that where I live a lot of the examples you mentioned ARE heavly mandated and limited.
I have said it time and time again. Smokers should have to wear those old diving helmets, but made out of glass. That way they can smoke as much as they want and don’t bother anyone but themselves!10 years ago people called me crazy, but maybe now we are heading in that direction. :)
Generally I agree with you, but with cigarettes you are not making the choice only for yourself. Every time you walk down the street with a cigarette in hand you are forcing other people to inhale it.
I was born in a world without a cigarette ban in restaurants and clubs and the current situation is 1000 time more preferable imo.
As an Austrian 4 weeks is still nothing.
I agree, but I sometimes check out reddit as well and it’s also been meh now. It seems that social media as a whole is in a steep decline. No good content anywhere. Or maybe I’m just getting old.
Don’t forget sugar. I’ve recently visited the US and their bread (if you can call it that) could easily be classified as cake where I’m from.
I would never use an ISPs router for my home network. It just causes so many issues that you can easily avoid by either using your own router directly or if that is not possible putting the device into “bridge” mode and using your own router behind it.
What are some of the issues?
The devices the ISPs send out are usually the cheapest hardware imaginable and therefore introduce substantial unnecessary latency.
Where I live some ISPs also used to use tools that genereted wifi passwords based on the devices MAC address. While this is apparently fixed now, a lot of non tech savvy users still use these old devices that are basically open to anyone now.
To save even more money, they sometimes deliberately send out faulty devices (as in devices that drop connection frequently, restart for no reason, etc) which is just horrible.
I know these issues because I worked in that field and there are a lot more unfortunately…
Didn’t the show hint at this already? I don’t think that’s just a fan theory.
Funnily enough I thought it was worse when I read it. The actors at least made it somewhat believable. It was terrible though.
Both work with “Sync for Lemmy”. Don’t know about other apps/sites.
I read a survey once that had a large number of adults pee in the water too. It’s not just children.
And I will pirate it and play it on my Steamdeck!
