Set up a new pc for someone today. Turned off all the OneDrive backup options. Rebooted and copied their files from a USB to SATA adapter. They turned the backup settings back on again!

As a heavy user of Playit Live, Excel with macros and Google Drive, I’m stuck in a Windows World for a while yet. The first two could maybe run in Boxes if I send the audio to a USB device.
So, could users just ignore that and just buy an anti-virus product or use 0patch? If it’s like Widows 8, most apps will still be updated for a few years.
You can easily make one by adding a thermostat inline with the power cord to a chest freezer.
The crappy one in my Motorola g84, and anything fairly close with good lighting.
I do have a second generation Sony Mavica though - one that takes floppy disks.
Not sure I trust Reckon to work indefinitely. I think it still has to phone home every five years or so, but not sure.
I think flash memory degrades over time. This can render any phone useless given enough years of service, but this might vary a lot between brands and usage habits. A dash cam app can kill some phones surprisingly fast.
