  • I would probably recommend trying Imgur. You need to link a phone number to the app when creating an account, but that actually helps cut down on bot traffic a lot, so it’s pretty much all real humans who will see your posts.

One user on Imgur that I see post often will put up a whole gallery of wholesome memes, then a random Go Fund Me link at the end just to help them get attention. I can’t say how effective it is, but it sure does get visibility once it hits the front page. Maybe try something like that but with some pics and info about your kitty?

Good luck, I hope you get the help you need!

Imo it feels like the reddit migration has died down, but a good chunk the users that have stuck around are actually engaged in their communities. I’ve been seeing more instances created too, which is cool because it means people are hosting their own.

More recently I’ve noticed that Sync actually plays embedded videos now, which is probably the best update since its release. It’s feeling a lot more user-friendly and that should help it keep growing organically.

The only times I use reddit anymore is browsing with old.reddit a couple times a week. I don’t even login to that site now because I don’t engage with anything, I just check the news and stuff then come back to Lemmy.

Imo blocked users get less engagement, therefore it helps to some degree. Also, unlike reddit, it’s somewhat difficult to browse the Fediverse without being logged in. I’d guess that if any problematic content does slip through, it reaches a much smaller audience than if it were to slip through on reddit just because of how things are decentralized here.

edit: I tried it again and I now agree that it is easier to browse with an account. I saw a lot more content than the first time I tried it ~2 months ago

  • You can start small with making comics by downloading a free drawing app and just experimenting. The one I use is called ibis Paint X but there really are tons of them.

What I do is when I notice I’m just scrolling for no reason, I’ll switch apps and try to draw something instead. Sometimes I like what I draw and other times I don’t; the important thing is to just spend time doing it.

  • Highschool money making hack: Take note of the vending machines and what they sell. Figure out what they don’t have that people want, then buy it in bulk at the store to sell at school for profit.

At my school they didn’t allow soda in the vending machines, so I made bank selling cans of Coca-Cola and Mountain Dew out of my locker for $1-2 each. I remember earning enough to buy an iPod and that was pretty much all I was doing it for.
