This bird is coming for you, and you have nowhere left to run!
That’s some seriously impressive camouflage. Whenever I see animals in isolation, I wonder how their fur / feather patterns could fool anybody, but seeing them in their natural environment reallly shows how well they can blend in.
That’s a Lemmy problem, unfortunately. The links are all .ml links because that’s OP’s home instance, and (as far as I’m know) currently, there is no way to create instance-agnostic post / comment links. Compare https://lemmy.ml/post/19241099/13073901
, https://programming.dev/comment/11773309
, and https://pawb.social/comment/10354944
. They all lead to the same comment (the one that says “Are they?” one level above OP’s), but the bit after the instance name is always different, and Lemmy doesn’t have a way to convert a “foreign” post or comment ID to a local one. There’s an open issue about this on github, though, so maybe this feature will be introduced in the future. If you want to save the comments on your home instance, the only way to do that is to go through OP’s comment history.
I found this article published on the website of a TV station in Cleveland, Ohio, about 50km from Elyria. I had to use a VPN to access it, so here’s the most important bit:
Elyria man removes vulgar sign criticizing city’s permit requirements after week on display
The message “F*** you City of Elyria, it’s my property not yours” covered a large plywood sign on full display for drivers.
“I have gotten a lot of threats through Facebook about it. You know, ‘You need to take that down, it’s vulgar language, it’s kids,’ whatnot," homeowner William Grabrovac said. "I understand that situation, but if you go walk up and down the streets, there’s a lot of f-- Biden signs flying around. What’s the difference?”
Grabrovac put up the message after the City of Elyria issued him a notice of violations for extending his driveway and adding a pergola without a permit. The sign stayed for the next seven days.
(…) He says he was making a statement with the sign, showing that he disagreed with the city’s permit requirements and didn’t understand why he was limited in making alterations to his property.
On Thursday, after a full week with the sign on display, Grabrovac met with the city and they came to an agreement.
(…) Now, Grabrovac can keep the gravel as long as he doesn’t park there. He promised to take the sign down and get the required permits for his home.
You’re on lemmy.world, right? Hexbear is blocked there (and on a bunch of other instances; here’s their post about defederation), so that’s probably why you can’t view the instance from lemmy.world.
This article was published in March 2021, four months before the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo (they were postponed because of the pandemic), and an openly trans woman participated in these Summer Olympics, so
The Olympics have had trans-inclusive policies since 2004, but a single openly transgender athlete has yet to even qualify.
isn’t quite accurate any more. However, Laurel Hubbard couldn’t complete any of her three snatch attempts and placed last / did not finish. This is not an attempt to downplay the major achievement of appearing at the Olympic Games (that alone means that she has achieved more in her life than I ever will), but it shows that the idea of trans women dominating women’s sports, even in sports like weightlifting, isn’t accurate.
I just wanted to add this little bit because it felt relevant, and it’s always good to stay up to date c:
I love it when animals go :D. They look so human when they do it.
