Do you think webdav somehow dumps you database? No it’s just a protocol to save your files on your webserver. It’s just a middelman.

Yeah it’s my recommendation from my personal experience. Is that wrong? I use it nearly everyday without any data corruption. Is my personal experience not valide?
The point is, syncthing is rock solid, never had any issue being it with my zotero database or syncing files between my devices. If you’re a Nextcloud advocate or are against my personal opinion so be it :).

This can happend if you work on both devices with Zotero at the same time (why would you do that anyway??). I already did my tests and with my server as a middelman I never had any corrupted data !
Nextcloud and syncthing a 2 different things. While synching keeps your files synchronized between your devices, nextcloud is a cloud platforme which gives you access to your files on your server. The difference is actually very important even though a lot would argue that they are the same.
It really depends what type of technology you want/need. I would recommended syncthing for it’s simplicity and robustness. It only does one thing but it does it very well !!
To give you an example, I have a syncthing sever which is a middleman for my Zotero database. Laptop <-> Server (syncthing) <-> desktop. It’s very important to keep it in sync for the integrity of the zotero database !
This kind of workflow wouldn’t work with nextcloud or rather will most of the time corrupt my database.
Nextcloud works as a simple cloud platforme wich is also great (with it’s up and downs) but works only as a cloud platforme to keep your files on your server.

I picked manjaro because their user base is bigger and Manjaro is older. I will probably switch to EndeavourOS for all the reasons mentionted here and there in the comments. There seems to be a common strange atmosphere arround manjaro.
Also, because that logo thing on boot made me this post, this means I already felt something is odd with Manjaro. Always follow your guts !
Ps: Didn’t though it’s that much of a heated subject. It’s a bit sad, I really liked manjaro’s default and looks amazing.

While I did like the well build defaults, I didn’t liked how they added their logo on boot up, even if it has nothing to do with logoFAIL exploit, It felt wrong (or does every distro does that?). Also the fact they added their own bookmarks in my freshly installed Firefox left me a bit skeptical… :/
There’s probably nothing to be alarmed off but That doesn’t feel right… If they do that, what else could they add hidden in the distro normal people can’t see ?
If I may ask, do you have any good distro you would recommend? Something as bare bone as possible, as good as debian but a bit more up to date. I do not fear some tinkering with a new distro but Arch is a bit to much of a hassle right now… That’s why I chose Manjaro.
My second pick was EndeavourOS as daily drive, but the community is small compared to manjaro and it’s relatively new in the game. Any thoughts?

One downside of debian testing is you don’t get security patches when the package is freezed under testing.
Rather use sid, but comes with it’s own share of troubles !
Edit: I’m currently on Manjaro, wich is somehow a “semi-rolling” release based on arch. It takes a few weeks before it hits the stable branch. But while I love it as daily drive, don’t know if I would recommend it as server.
Servers need to be stable, that’s why I use debian stable on my server.
Maybe give fedora server a try? Which is more uptodate than debian and maybe more stable as a server OS than a rolling release !

Wait, I thought the “downside” of this app was that it used your VPN connection.
It does, but if you have a VPN that let’s you send your traffic through wireguard (like protonVPN, don’t know about others :/) it will send all your traffic through that tunnel.
Also, there was a recent update which uses your wireguard’s DNS instead of rethink’s hardcoded internal DNS. That was the awaited updated I needed to fully switch to rethinkDNS.
There are still some quirks in the interface and a few strange behavior with wireguard when waking the phone up, but nothing that causes leaks in my experience, because if my wireguard tunnel isn’t working rethink isn’t able to make any requests !

Hey :) may I suggest rethinkDNS to have a more granular control over your installed application? Also it’s possible to block everything except the apps you trust while still being able to use your own DNS/wireguard VPN/proxy…

I only pointed out what technique photographers use to make them appear so bright and colorful on pictures.
They really are as colorful as they appear in photos but human night vision is primarily black and white.
Does that even make sense? I mean, we are what we are, and we see what we see. There is noway that we could certainly know how they actually look like.
If a reptile looks at an Aurora Borealis, It would totally see it differently, and it’s perspective would differ from ours.
With a camera you can change alot of attributes to make it appear b/w, sepia, more light, rgb, cmjn, infrared, flash… But that doesn’t make it how they actually appear, I mean who is in charge to give the correct mixture of how much light, b/w, cmjn, rgb, infrared… to see the “real” manifestation ?
Personally, I think this is more a philosophical/metaphysic ¿? question, but I’m no expert in any of those subjects. I’m just relying on my personal experience and my feelings ^^.

Uhhhh, I saw them yesterday in northen* hemisphere in Europe and they waren’t white at all… So my guess would be that it depends from where you look at it ?
But in reality they are more dull than on pictures, because photographers use Long Exposure to make the color brighter than they actually appear.

You sure about that? I mean, to use a VPN your need some kind of application that could potentially be vulnerable or have some zero day exploits.
In contrary, a proxy is as simple as to forward your traffic to another computer through a SSH tunnel which doesn’t specially need some kind of application but only relies on lower level package.

An AIO web interface that give all the changes and expected bugs or issues. I know there isn’t something like that… That’s why I just look out for github notifications with an RSS feed and read through all the changes/issues before doing any updates.
