Thanks, that’s really helpful. It can be hard to tell between commands and acronyms in conversation with familiarity

This is looking like a good option, thanks!
The old drives are fine, just either too small or too slow, so it sounds like it may be an option
Any help with the acronyms? I’m still pretty new to Linux
That’s fair, if you’re just looking for RGB control and don’t care about mechanical switches or macro keys and stuff, then I would check out what @JTheFox@lemmy.world said about openrgb and see what works and is a decent price.
I’m partial to corsair right now, and have had Razer stuff in the past. Both are fine, though still probably (at least slightly) overpriced for what you get. Either way, I don’t think you’ll regret any of the big makers.
Keyboards in general? Or RGB keyboards? I think all keyboards work fine for core functionality. It depends on what you are looking for out of a “gaming” keyboard. The big makers mostly have alternative software to program rgb and re-keybinds for keys as far as I’ve seen. I know corsair has a good alt software for both binds and rgb, Razer obviously from this post, and I think steelseries has one but can’t remember off the top of my head
I have a mix of a roubo and an anarchist bench. I use the leg vise way more than I ever thought I would, and bench dogs are king for me. The tail vise gets a fair amount of use too. I didn’t add a sliding deadman to mine, and I regret it (I have some dog holes in the right leg, but want some closer for smaller stuff). Its my first bench, so I’ve learned a bit making it as well as using it, so maybe in 5 years I’ll make an updated one (which should go easier since I’d have a bench to build the bench on lol)
Yeah, that’s exactly it. Even if is made of saw dust, it’s (at least in part) real wood in some sense. I would agree that’s nonsense.
Yeah, when I build stuff, I always just say the timber it’s made out of, but I was talking with someone about an old dresser. They mentioned it was “solid wood”, but the case was made out of an old press board. Which led to this question. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t confused.
Someone else may be, but I was/am genuinely curious as to what others thought. I have a pretty “purist” view myself and wanted to see if I was in the minority or not.
Well that was anticlimactic, but I appreciate the information
I’m probably missing something, but what are the two bumps in December and Feb from?
Having those and holdfasts are a game changer. Going from building my workbench on some saw horses and plywood with misc clamps to a proper bench with dog holes for bench dogs and holdfasts (with vises too) literally felt like easy mode on my next project lol
I’ve honestly never had a problem with grain direction, but I’ve also had pretty good luck being able to select good boards to avoid wonky grain when I need to use the plow. Having both handed versions would certainly be a luxury, but I definitely don’t think it is necessary, personally
Between the two, I would get their combo plane personally. I won a plow plane in a raffle and I’ve used it a fair amount, but wish I could do more with it. I can’t really justify having that and the combo, so I’m sticking with it for now. Maybe some day I’ll sell it and just get the combo personally too
Thanks, and good to know! I’m honestly waiting for the spring to build some boxes (that I should just build this fall). I should just prep the area and get started now :/
I’m way behind on starting my gardening journey, but I plan on starting in the spring myself, and I’ll give this a shot too
Reading through the main page for it, it seems more like a smart journal. You’d enter your crops, and enter info about water/treatment information, and it’ll send notifications as reminders to do tasks, but it doesn’t determine water and care schedules for you, that’s something the user sets up (from what I understand at least).
That does help. One of the things on my to do list was setting up a backup system anyway, so maybe I’ll play with that. Thanks!
