It’s a nuanced issue. Because before VAR, the quality of the first impression calls were altering entire seasons. Entire tournaments. Now, the rules are followed to a T. Which absolutely alters the game in a different way, but now it’s not about one asshole’s probably obstructed or misjudged view in the moment. We all get to see exactly what needs to be called, and it gets called. So that means you’re getting PKs for what was ultimately a dive, but there actually was a grazing contact. We need to change the rules to adapt.
We need to give the officials more discretion over carding for diving. So ultimately: that graze didn’t impede your movement and you felt the light touch and dove. Yellow card.
We need to say that contact isn’t the determining factor, but obstructive contact. If that glancing touch clipped your trailing foot and you ultimately lost balance because of it, yes that’s a foul. Because with slow motion and human reaction time, it’s so clear when that touch was embellished and you decided to go down. But the officials are basically looking past the dive to see if even the slightest contact was made. The rules need to be updated. Kill two birds: eliminate problematic diving and make the game more honest.
We’d need way more VAR officials per game and the first official would lose some power, but it’d make way more sense seeing as how it wouldn’t just be one opinion changing things but a small team of professionals making the best call.
But this is just one man’s opinion. Yes it can be problematic and it’s changed things, but utilized properly it can change things for the better.
Because that’s their data. You can’t go deleting it. You’re the product, friend. My baby powder doesn’t get to decide it doesn’t want to go between my buttcheeks
Entirely dependent on the job I’m working. I work in film, so sometimes we’re on a prelight and the day is 12hr, I could work anywhere from four to maybe 10. Then some days were on 10hr shoot days, and I could work maybe 30 min. And then there are days like this week, working a documentary on multiple locations, and I worked a collective maybe 40 min/day (with a 9:30 call and me leaving by 2-3 while getting paid for 12hr).
Same in American!
Will forte is not in this movie. It’s will Ferrell.
I honestly think the movie looks like garbage. But that’s just me. If it were forte, I might actually reserve my judgement. But it’s not. It’s will Ferrell, and the man hasn’t had the most stellar record since…well, that’s up for debate. But it’s been a minute.
Edit: ah, my bad errybody, Forte is in it. Still… if it were him fronting the poster and being the main draw, I might feel differently about it. But right now it just feels like another “sausage party” type “non-family friendly family movie” with big names to put butts in seats. Stupid, raunchy humor just because you “can” isn’t my type of humor. I dunno, maybe I’ll be proven wrong when everyone tells me I need to see it and then I’ll enjoy it. Guess we’ll find out. But I had similar feelings about anchorman 2 or, well, sausage party. It’s gonna be dumb and doesn’t seem worth my time
I definitely get that. But PSG/ligue 1 really seem like purgatory for soon-to-retire footballers. Especially PSG. It’s a cash grab, all for a misguided attempt at buying a world class team. They’ve been stacked the last few seasons. But you can’t buy cohesion.
I mean, whatever. From what I heard the other day, he was demanding 50% of his transfer fee from Barca.
I can’t imagine why he would do that besides money. He saw what the other ex-Barca players went through there. They have both tried getting out as quickly as they could or regretted ever leaving. Whatever, he’s always been a prima Donna. And an injury prone one at that
Yeah, definitely. I was going to say something along the lines of, they do this and then tell us all we don’t like soccer.
And the only reason I was actually watching ESPN was because I looked up at the gym and saw, on one of the 25 TVs, something actually interesting, so I started paying attention. And then they showed three goals in under a minute and then said the score was 5-0. And jumped as quick as they could back to American football players talking about a season that hasn’t even started yet. Ffs
To clarify, because I can’t seem to edit the post: this was obviously on the highlights/sports news segment. They went on to spend like five minutes talking about the season that hasn’t started yet. Not to mention, they spent at least five minutes on training camp shit BEFORE the women’s WC highlights too.
Reason being…? Did they really gun down a bunch of extras?
Yes, definitely! I wonder what that is. Because I definitely engage way more with the actual content, reading full articles, actually opening articles…on Reddit, I was so angry with myself because I wouldn’t actually read the shit. Which was very unlike me. Very odd
How…does that make sense to you.
“There’s way too many people in well-off areas that will survive the great famines and heatwaves killing most people by the equator. So it’s not really all that bad.”
What a stupid, stupid opinion. It’s this exact kind of idiotic nonsense take that’s dominated and helped out the culpable industries throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Get fuckin bent
It’s long past time we pull the best quote from a scientist just saying, “we fucking told you.”
I don’t dream of labor
Lol of course they do
It really was such a great Reddit client. My brother swore by Apollo, but I was on android and couldn’t say enough good things about Joey. When I switch back to iOS, I got on Apollo and saw what he meant. But in my heart, I still think Joey was better. But they were both definitely cream of the crop
Man, these guys have changed their sound. I didn’t realize they put out a new album. I’ll have to give it a new listen. Honestly A Laughing Death In Meatspace was the last I really got into, but after listening to The Drones and getting such a similar taste, I think a change in direction might be good for them. I like their sensibilities, but maybe got a little tired with their specific sound—which was pretty unique, but doing a unique thing is only unique for so long. Thanks for the post, I’m putting their new stuff in my roto
