  • Your feet and head are both very vascular, so cooling them will help lots to cool the rest of you.

    Head -

Ever been buzzed or bald before? If no, now could be the time to give it a shot. Worse case scenario, you look like shit and let it grow back to whatever’s the shortest length that looks decent. Bonus: you’ll save a ton of time and money on hair cuts/care.

Keep a container of water water and washcloths in your fridge. Take a cloth out when it’s time to veg on the couch, and slap it on your noggin. When it dries, grab a new one. *recommend not throwing used ones back in the water w/o washing first, or your water will get nasty fast.

    • If you decide to go buzzed and have never done it before, PROTECT YOUR NOGGIN/SCALP FROM THE SUN. Burns up there hurt like a mofo.

    Feet -

This is trading heat discomfort for wet sock discomfort; but if that’s a fair trade, then… yeah, wet your socks with cold water. A tub a cold water at the base of your couch can give you something to dip in while you’re watching TV or something. Same spiel as the wash cloths - keep your socks/water/tub clean and don’t reuse without washing first, or you’ll get yourself trenchfoot or some nastiness.

Also, if you’re in an apartment that disallows window units… they fit great in a fireplace, and the hot air just vents up the chimney. Your lease likely doesn’t say anything about fireplace units. Just sayin’. Just make sure to seal the edges really well so hot air doesn’t leak back into your living space.

  • Normalize weddings with cool themes!!

Take lots of pictures - and post whatever you’re comfortable posting here! This sounds awesome.

If you or any of your guests happen to have a super friendly dog, make a fairy suite for it and rig it with a GoPro! I read a post years ago from a couple who did that (sans fairy) and it got some of the best footage there was, cuz dogs always want to be right where the action is, and people tend to be all smiley around them. Idk why, but your post reminded me of that article lol.

If you’re looking for music ideas, the Zelda soundtracks have high potential for this kind of event - no lyrics, so good for background music, and fairies make up a significant portion of the franchise, so they’ve got songs just for them; and a TON that aren’t specifically fairy, but close enough that they might as well be. The franchise is popular enough that there are full symphonic covers of even the N64 tracks, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there are already wedding-style Zelda covers. I gotta get my ass to bed, but I’ll do some digging and get back to you when I get a chance.

  • Try to identify your local ethnic/cultural organizations, and follow their events schedules.

There are pretty large Indian and Vietnamese populations where I live, and they each have an association to share their cultural highlights with the larger pop. The Holi and Festival of Lights celebrations (Indian) and Lunar New Year (Vietnamese) were all an absolute blast and had amazing food.

Good way to get intel on your local organizations is to hit up the respective restaurants/grocery stores from whichever cultures are well represented in your area - look for pamphlets and ask the staff.

As a pasty white dude who’s only recently started tuning in to events like that, everything feels very new and unique - highly recommend!

  • Holy shit, Freeman’s Mind!! Those started dropping when I was in HS, but there were only like 5 of them then. Looks like almost 100 now??

I recall getting a good laugh out of the ones I saw. Completely forgot about those! Definitely on the list now!

Unless you specifically want content made using newer games?

Don’t so much care about old vs new; I’m more about the quality of presentation. Idr how I stumbled across the Neebs Subnautica series - diving sims weren’t really on my radar, so it’s not something I’d normally have had any desire to click on, but it sucked me in quick cuz their voice acting paired with the game environment was pretty great.
