A put a hole in the side of a helicopter that left it grounded for a week.

I accidentally tapped it with another piece of the helicopter. I’m happily working on helicopters that are made of metal now, so no more of that nonsense.

Edit: also, honorable mention because it wasn’t my fault, but I made a helicopter drop an external fuel tank when it took off… by replacing a light bulb. It was on the button that makes the helicopter drop the external tanks, but there are failsafes so it will only do it in the air. Apparently the internal switch got stuck, so the second the weight was off of the wheels CLONK… and a tank was laying on the active runway. Excellent.

Gotta second Henson. Best shave I’ve gotten, and after buying a 100 pack of the razor blades (for, like, $10) I don’t think I’ll ever have to buy anything to shave with ever again. I only shave once or twice a week (and do a light pass with an electric razor between), so I use a new blade every 3-4 weeks. Plus since it’s double-sided, I get two sets of passes per rinse, which doesn’t seem like much but it feels a lot more efficient.

I bought it to not have to buy a crap ton of 5-blade cartridges and nonsense, but my constant razor burn has completely gone away, so it’s generally better.

You’re missing the point. It’s not a one time thing. Evidence existed, that evidence was found, and that’s what made it change to being accepted.

That evidence still exists, so if you claim dinosaurs don’t exist, we can just point to the evidence that still exists. That evidence didn’t get spirited away like golden plates to heaven. We’re still finding dinosaur bones.

If you claim dinosaurs don’t exist, I would point to the wealth of evidence that they do. If you were raised in some religious cult that never taught anything about dinosaurs and taught that the Earth was 6000 years old, and therefore didn’t think giant creatures existed hundreds of millions of years ago, it would absolutely be on the person claiming they exist to show you dinosaur bones. Which is evidence.

Your premise is incorrect. The burden of proof for quantum mechanics is on the people claiming they exist. They provided those proofs, which is why people believe in them. I haven’t studied quantum mechanics, but if you asked somebody who does, they could offer proof or evidence. And if they couldn’t, then your claim it doesn’t exist (until proof was proffered) would be correct.

As a person in the military, I disagree wholeheartedly. Military rates/MOSs are extremely diverse, and most have real-world equivalence (to some degree). A person with skills at stripping down a gun might not be apt for a mail merge, but they’d be good for law enforcement or security. A store keeper, on the other hand, would be pretty good for that. And most non-combat roles would likely be good at passive aggressive email banter. Especially good, in fact, because going to far with the wrong person can have serious consequences, so the “passive” in passive aggressive carries a lot of weight.

Combat specialties in the military account for less than 14% (it’s slightly over if you exclude Coast Guard and Space Force, which would bring the percentage down a bit). So while there might not be 1:1 on military and civilian gun-related jobs, there’s no reason to expect any given company having a low percentage of vets just because they don’t deal with guns.

As a military member whose primary job has been working on the avionics and electrical components of aircraft while also having a lot of experience flying (as aircrew/flight mechanic), as well as general aircraft maintenance management, if I felt like getting out of the military right now, I could easily get a six-figure job with my experience. I know because several of my coworkers have been poached by companies offering exactly that, and they figured out how much they’d make would be worth more in the long run than getting a retirement check for the rest of their life starting when they retire at 40. Also, I can’t speak to other branches, but my branch absolutely pushes us into getting higher education/training and civilian certificates. I can (and will) get an Airframe and Powerplant license, as well as several avionics ones before I retire. In my 40s. And walk into a pretty cush quality assurance job at Honeywell or Boieng or Sikorsky or Rockwell-Collins.

All this to say, I think you need to change your preconceived notions of what the military consists of and what training they receive.

Ukraine isn’t fighting “crush Russia” or “consolidate power,” they are fighting to exist as a nation. They are fighting to not be part of Russia, and if you claim Russia doesn’t consolidate wealth into a small few while sacrificing their poor as cannon fodder, you’re unabashedly lying.

Now, do Western nations take advantage of this to severely weaken with no personal loss of life or territory? Absolutely. But just because it benefits the West doesn’t mean it doesn’t also benefit Ukraine.

I was in a group that traveled the country and stayed in school gyms over the summer. I can tell you, the worst school bathroom I had to poop in had a combination of all the worst things:

The toilet paper came out one piece at a time, like a napkin box at a restaurant but facing down. It was also this super thin ply.

The “stalls” were actually just small walls that went up to your shoulder (when sitting) and forward to your knees (when sitting).

They had a mirror running the full wall opposite the “stalls,” so you had nothing to look at but the wall of dudes pooping or furiously pulling individual tissues of tp out.

I’ve got an… overly simplified answer:

To a bigot, your challenges are annoying so they would avoid talking with you. So if you do want to engage with them, constantly (and aggressively) challenging their bigotry will prevent that. But why would you want to interact with bigots unless you absolutely had to? Their bigotry chafes you as much or more than your challenges chafe them. But also, if you live in some backwater place, and constantly seeking out and challenging bigotry means everybody around you wants nothing to do with you, then you’re going to have a rough time.

In the same way, a vegan person challenging your dietary choices chafes you, and they may feel (and you may understand) that they have every reason to make the challenge, but it still is likely to prevent you wanting to engage with them. If most people around them are not vegan, and they seek out opportunities to challenge people, they’re going to have a bad time.

But I also think there is a big difference between being in the minority and seeking out opportunities to challenge people (e.g. vegans in meat-eating society) and being the majority and seeking out opportunities to challenge people (e.g. religious area and self-righteous pricks starting conversations by asking if you are worried about going to hell).

If you can legally work, you should be able to legally vote!
