  • That’s a great setup by the sounds of it. I’m a remote worker, so I can be dad-on-demand if needed, but I do have to focus on actual work most of the time, so my kids are in school/child care.

I try hard to be a decent human; I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with a lot of shitty individuals in my younger years. They served as good inspiration, I suppose. I’m fortunate that only the caustic sense of humour from that cohort has seemed to rub off on me, and nothing else.

My day is going quite well, too. Thanks for asking. Hope yours is going great.

  • Congrats, dude. It’s a fucking wild, exhausting ride, but I wouldn’t change a thing. The hardest part, by far, is finding time for your own interests.

Remember: the standard is that you show up, and you try to be a good parent. Anything over that is icing on the cake. You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. If you’re there for your kids, and you’re trying, you are fucking killing it and don’t let anyone say anything otherwise

    Welcome.

I’ve been here a year and it’s great. Prior to leaving Reddit, I was really disenfranchised with their community. Everyone on Reddit are insanely negative, pedantic fuck weasels. Subs were rife with bots that posted the same banal content, and turned into giant echo chambers. It was near impossible to have an opinion contrary to the popular one.

Lemmy is smaller, but our content is great and our communities are very friendly. You get to be you without much worry of some dickcheese jumping down your throat.

    You’re gonna like it here
