You’re right (I didn’t make the meme); mercury chloride was a historical multipurpose medicine.
Your comment is amazing, as an aside.
No way these are bots…
One person said they’d spoken with colleagues who had chosen to go hybrid, and those colleagues reported doing work in mostly empty offices punctuated with video calls with people who were in other mostly empty offices.
This is the crux of it. All of our meetings now are virtual. Full stop. Companies had to adapt during COVID and to do that they got things like teams and SharePoints going. Now these tools are still in place and the genie is out of the bottle. No going back
You have no idea how much I appreciated the slow lead in your comment. The entire thing is very high quality and I highly enjoyed reading whatever the fuck that was.
Mental endurance. The documents I write are very long, and very technical. My role is to integrate reports from numerous environmental and engineering disciplines into one big report. In that regard, everything has to be accurate. Because I integrate, I have to read all of these reports. Every day. All day. All year. Then I have to fit the pieces of the puzzle together and tell the story of the site.
Horrific.
The letter from the MIA is extremely well written, and conveys a lot of humanity and sympathy. I’m moved.
That’s a great setup by the sounds of it. I’m a remote worker, so I can be dad-on-demand if needed, but I do have to focus on actual work most of the time, so my kids are in school/child care.
I try hard to be a decent human; I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with a lot of shitty individuals in my younger years. They served as good inspiration, I suppose. I’m fortunate that only the caustic sense of humour from that cohort has seemed to rub off on me, and nothing else.
My day is going quite well, too. Thanks for asking. Hope yours is going great.
Congrats, dude. It’s a fucking wild, exhausting ride, but I wouldn’t change a thing. The hardest part, by far, is finding time for your own interests.
Remember: the standard is that you show up, and you try to be a good parent. Anything over that is icing on the cake. You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. If you’re there for your kids, and you’re trying, you are fucking killing it and don’t let anyone say anything otherwise
What are the YT alternatives? I use it by default and I’m to exhausted to look for another landing place
Welcome.
I’ve been here a year and it’s great. Prior to leaving Reddit, I was really disenfranchised with their community. Everyone on Reddit are insanely negative, pedantic fuck weasels. Subs were rife with bots that posted the same banal content, and turned into giant echo chambers. It was near impossible to have an opinion contrary to the popular one.
Lemmy is smaller, but our content is great and our communities are very friendly. You get to be you without much worry of some dickcheese jumping down your throat.
You’re gonna like it here
Their algorithm is already abrasive enough. I routinely find myself following people I did not elect to follow. Throw some stupid adds in there, to just make it worse…
black metal has entered the chat
Means either the mgt is spineless and jumps to whatever the client needs without forethought, or they are completely disorganized
I would feel safer alone in a room with the bear than a politician. At least I know what the bear wants.
That black police officer’s arm has more muscle on it than I have in my body
I’m? Being insulted by a bot?
