  • Having been raised in a religious household and having escaped it later in life to become an engineer/science nerd, while being ostracized by my, incredibly, incredibly disappointing parents because they refuse to learn new things or acknowledge scientific studies that conflict with their religious views:

This answer is unequivocally, absolutely, a 100% correct take on humanity and their need for the “simplistic” and incorrect answers religion gives about the world around them.

  • FWIW, I never thought I’d remarry either.

It could happen if you meet the right person and want to share your life with them. Took us close to 8 years of dating before we got married.

Super small wedding, total of 7 people invited. I kept waiting for the “other shoe to drop” with her, but it never did, and then I realized she’s the real deal, and I could commit with her without some dark side of her personality showing up or her getting run off to the hills with my issues.

Anyhow, maybe it doesn’t work for you, and it sounds like maybe not with your current GF with the mental health issues.

Wishing you guys all the best regardless, just wanted to let you know I was pretty much in the same camp until a couple years ago after my previous marriage ended almost 15 years ago.

  • Because Netflix didn’t dismantle the capitalism machine.

Capitalism can never fully disrupt itself. It’s always cyclical. If bundling eventually made it more money, then it will eventually return. If the response to that is to innovate something that gets around that form of bundling, then that “disrupts” the market, in the short term, only for the market to settle back to bundles.

Because as long as the idea makes more money in a capitalistic society, it will never die.

  • Religious apologists downvoting and PMing me how wrong I am haha. I guess they’d rather keep kidding themselves then.

Like, for those downvoting me because you don’t like what I said, doesn’t change the fact that it is correct. I’m not saying that just to be a dick. What’s happening over there is entirely due to religious influences and control warping people’s minds from childhood to think there’s some supernatural forces or divine guidance that gives them the “OK” to genocide another group, no matter the cost in casualties.

That’s coming from a place of zealotry and extremism that is driven by millennia of religion. And the people in the US that continue to support Israel are no better. They’re all calling themselves Zionists. It’s the belief that in order for the end days of their scripture/teachings to come to pass, requires “God’s chosen” (aka the Jewish population of the world), to reclaim their “lost sacred religious lands”, which is Israel and Palestine.

Once the Israelites do that, then a bunch of stuff in the New Testament supposedly comes to pass, specifically Revelations, which is the key signifier for the end times.

It’s why all the crazies are coming out of the woodwork to support Israel along with the “non-crazies”.

The truth is they share a common insanely crazy belief, which is zionism, and it’s pretty fucked up.
