Bacon and ice cream go great together and I refuse to pretend they don’t.
I still miss midnight snack ice cream. Potato chips covered in chocolate. Delicious

I love how this image is a pun
Probably more so cheaper to mold the plastic case with weak threads than any other function.
Machinist guy here!
Threads fail. Threads are generally the most likely thing to fail in any given mechanism. Generally, when the threads are expected to do more work than just sit there and not move, as in fastening a hinge for example, we try to make sure the threads are all the same kind of material.
I would never expect plastic threads to hold up to repeated use with an iron bolt inside. Something is going to give up, and it’s going to be the soft plastic threads, every single time.
Think about cheap as fuck IKEA furniture, any time they have a bolt to screw in, you install an insert first. We do the same thing in plastic, aluminum, shit even steel sometimes if we want the bolt to fail first.
I want to see someone try.
Not because it’s practical, or because it makes sense. But because it sounds like it makes sense but I’m practice would be so impractical and hard that the solution would be absolutely hilarious.
You’re driving along the freeway at 70 miles an hour, and a jet powered super drone rockets along side the car carrying a 2000 pound brick of lithium and drops it on top of you like a fucking dump truck. The shock crushes the cheap Chinese car like a can of soda and the sudden change in weight sends the drone careening off in to the air at a reasonable percentage of mach 1. The last thing you see on this earth as your brain matter is squeezed out of your eye sockets like toothpaste is a wide eyed driver in the car next to you.
The resulting pile up kills 4 people immediately, and several more later as they get caught in an expanding wave of lithium battery fires that either burn them to death or suck all of the oxygen out of the air.
This was a different person. They’d taken a username of someone popular in a number of communities on Reddit and were purporting to be that person.
There was, back when I was active there. Around the time I migrated to Lemmy there was some drama and I believe that user was suspended. I don’t check it frequently enough anymore to know if there’s a current Picard maneuver surrogate.
Cixin Liu imagines exactly that towards the end of the Three Body series. Among other things, which make the series worth absolutely slogging through at points.
Here’s a fun fact that I think of every time I read about light delay.
We assume the speed of light is the same in all directions but there’s no way to prove that it is.
It could be light speed is instantaneous in one direction, and half the speed we think it is in the reverse. Any test we could devise depends on information traveling in two directions, nullifying any discrepancies in light speed.
I’m learning about it as a result of this thread. I’m still on 10, but I know what to look for when I inevitably am forced to switch to 11.
A number of things I use still aren’t supported on Linux
Oh it could be better for sure. But he’s got access to all the messages and data, getting a number at that point is probably trivial.
I also fucking hate Apple, with the same seething rage that redhats hate Windows, and I too must admit this is shockingly effective security.
Fun fact the first Mr coffee cost 300 dollars in 1971, which would be more than 2000 dollars today
Potato cure sadness. If standard potato does not, fermented potato will do
No. To both things. POST OR REMAIN
I tried to be active on writing prompts back in the other place, years ago.
So many of these things are written in first person that it’s grating to the eyes.
Different kinds of sugar are all sugar when they get to your gut. Anything beyond “the body treats this like sugar” is just a pissing contest.
When you juice something, you’re leaving 95% of the nutrients in the fruit, extracting the sugar water, and telling yourself you’re drinking healthy. That’s just not the case. The meat of the fruit is where that stuff is at. The fact that some of it makes it in to the juice is incidental. It would be better to drink a glass of water and eat the orange, than to juice the orange. Unless you then throw the juice away and just eat what’s left of the orange. That’s probably the best thing.
If it were actually AI I might have some faith.
This isn’t a neural net processor, not a learning computer. It’s a fucking mechanical Turk. A bad one.
What he’s talking about isn’t capable of deriving new ideas. It’s just going to spit out shit it’s seen already.
The library of Babel is just as likely to give us the answers he’s talking about. More likely maybe because it’s at least already written down.
