Quick PSA: they don’t currently block VPNs, so you can sign up for an account in a cheap country (I picked Nigeria) and use a foreign currency debit card (I use Revolut) to get Premium for like £1.50 a month for my entire family.

If they close that loophole then I think I’ll be done with it, the ads make it basically unusable these days.

Already had my 3 year old melt down at me three times this morning:

    • Once for not finding her the right Peppa Pig sock
    • Once for not taking her to the shop (we were out of coffee and milk)
    • Once for not buying her the right juice from said shop

I’m now hiding in the bedroom whilst drinking my coffee in peace.

    It’s gonna be a long day…

  • It is very different:

    • Tabs are always vertical which is better for todays ultrawide monitors
    • You have the ability to pin tabs to the sidebar which means that whenever you’re on a particular site (not page!) they’re stored in the same place
    • Other tabs are ephemeral, they’re open for at most the 24 hours from when you use them, then they get cleaned away
    • There are separate workspaces; like swappable sidebars that you can use to - for example - keep work and personal tabs separate
    • The vast majority of commands (going to a tab, getting to settings plus loads more) are access via a Stoplight like global search control
    • You can “boost” a particular site and change its style sheet to be different colours - this can be handy if you’re a developer and need to be extra careful when working in a production environment.

That’s just the stuff off the top of my head, there is probably more.

  • Our first family holiday to Wales.

    • Didn’t realise the drive would take 6 hours
    • Oldest kid is somewhat on the spectrum, we stupidly didn’t talk about it before we left
    • Kid decided he didn’t like it the moment we pull up to sign in and wanted to go home
    • We tried to stick it out but he just complained about everything
    • 2 days in youngest kid starts doing the same
    • The wife starts feeling sick too, turns out eldest was actually sick from nursery
    • Wife gets sicker than she’s ever been, can’t get out of bed
    • Everything is horribly expensive (it was some knock off center parcs thing) which we didn’t really budget for
    • It rains the whole time
    • Everyone is in bed the most of the days, have maybe 1 nice afternoon
    • No one sleeps through the night, spend most of the time lying on the floor hard floor
    • Decide to come home after 4 days even though we paid for 7

Massive waste of time, money and energy, going somewhere shorter and cheaper next time!

  • Not OP, but those people are just not my friends any more.

We had one person in our group say she wanted to delete facebook and we were all “Yea, alright then” and just moved that group to discord.

I’ve still got an account but use it way less these days since all the people I really cared about were in that group.
