  • 2023.10.04 SOTD:

    • Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser

    • Brush: AKA Brushworks Amethyst Watchman with 26mm AP Shave Co G5C

    • Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy AL

    • Blade: Gillette Nacet (3)

    • Lather: Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Did 2 passes on my face and 3 + cleanup on my neck. Didn’t do a straight ATG pass (just went south to north) and it turned out good. Not quite as smooth, but very close with less fuss. Still not completely sold on Nacet blades, though, which is a shame.

Due to the Spearhead sale, I will not be using another soap until I kill this tub so that my purchase of another SIL tub can be justified.

    • Brush: AKA Brushworks Amethyst Watchman with 26mm AP Shave Co G5C

    • Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy AL

    • Blade: BiC Chrome Platinum (1)

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Threw in my last BiC in the Legacy today to see if I should grab more. I think I will. Nice and smooth shave today with any issue. I think the Wizamet are better, but it is nice to have options. Elysian Pineapple Ambrosia is quickly turning into one of my personal favorites, so I’m going to have to pick up other Elysian products as a result.

Really nice shave today. Loving the CF Legacy razor. I need to pay attention to my ATG pass above my chin, though, as this is the second straight shave I’ve cut myself there. :/

Other than that, damn near bbs.

    • Lather: Zingari Man The Watchman

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Zingari Man The Watchman aftershave balm, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Today’s shave is brought to you by /u/OnionMiasma. He provided a wonderful (and overkill!) care package which included the soap and aftershave (along with the frag version, which I also used).

Great shave today. The fresh blade made a world of difference in the razor. Very nice and easy shave that ended with a close shave. Curious how it would fare with a fresh wizamet.

First time using Zingari Man. First use, pretty nice products. I made the lather a little too watery, but it was still very good. The scent on these is great, but still not quite what I’m looking for (in terms of ozone pre-tornado scent). I’ll find what I’m after eventually!

    • Brush: Paragon Shaving Plisson knot (28mm) with Paragon handle

    • Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy AL

    • Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium Extra Stainless (5)

    • Lather: Chiseled Face Banana

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Stirling Glacial Unscented aftershave balm, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Got a CF Legacy in the mail yesterday from the Zaar, so of course I had to christen it with CF Banana. I’m very impressed with the razor. Probably should’ve used a fresh blade, but even still it was fantastic. I can see it turning into one of my favorites. Did a 3 pass shave with some cleanup which resulted in a DFS with no irritation (though I did stupidly nick a mole).

As a bonus, I used SW Boonana frag. Just felt right.

    • Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable

    • Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium Extra Stainless (4)

    • Lather: Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

I ended my month and a half daily streak yesterday. Just felt right. Today’s shave was nice, especially since I got to use my AA prize from /u/cowzilla3. The Paragon brush is very nice. They say it’s a 28mm, but it looks smaller than my 26mm G5C. Still, I was very impressed after the first use. I decided to tub load and face lather today, both things I typically don’t do. I was under hydrated my first pass, but rectified the situation on pass 2 and 3. Overall, a very good shave today in the DFS category.

    • Lather: Hoffman’s Cookie Monster

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, House of Mammoth Rumble Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

/u/Priusaurus kindly sent over a smush of Cookie Monster. This is my first time using Hoffman’s. I’d say the quality of the lather was good, and the scent was quite nice. I got more of a hot chocolate impression than cookies, but it was still nice. I see this being a good cold weather scent.

Good shave today. 3 passes. No issues at all.

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, House of Mammoth Dammusi Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Good shave again today. The mild Henson is always a comfortable and easy shave. Hardest part of my shave this morning was keeping my cat from drinking the sink water while I was shaving.

Very nice shave again today. These Wizamet blades are really impressing me. Definitely going to pick some up in bulk. 3 pass shave with some very slight cleanup, no irritation, and smooth.

Really enjoying Pineapple Ambrosia as well. I’m going to have to try more of Elysian’s soaps. This was the first time using permafrost on a soap. Did 2 pumps, and everything was nice and chilly. I think one would be enough for one shave, but it was still nice. Close to Glacial level from Stirling. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic shave today. 2 pass on face, 3 on neck. Could’ve done some cleanup on the neck, but it was unnecessary due to the fact that I’ll just be playing Starfield all day. First time using the Wizamet, and it is a fantastic blade. If it keeps this up I’ll definitely have to buy some in bulk. I know it’s only one shave, but man it was good.

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, House of Mammoth Rumble Aftershave Splash w/ Permafrost, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

First time using Catie’s Bubbles. It’s a fantastic soap you’ve made, /u/C_Bubbles. Waterlyptus smells fantastic, and I’ll definitely have to check out more CB stuff in the future.

Shave number four with the Gem, and same as before. Good shave, but not close at all. Plus, my ATG was very unpleasant to the point that I didn’t attempt at all (I’m 95% this is a result of my shave yesterday and not the fault of the Gem). Still working on perfecting it. I didn’t ride the cap entirely today, held it at the slightest of angle. Will try again tomorrow; I will not be bested by a hunk of metal.

Take number 2 with my Gem., but still not able to achieve a close shave. The shave was better than attempt #1, but that wouldn’t take much. I’m sure I’ll get better the more I use it, but that will take time. I did make sure to ride the cap like crazy this shave, which is probably why it was better than the last. 3+ pass shave.
