I’m from Europe (Hungary) and I watched the first 20 minutes of the debate (with the intent of finishing the whole thing in one go) before turning it off while basically being on the brink of crying. The US presidents basically have as much say in my life as my own government (if not more) and even though I can’t vote for them, if I had to I’d be lost. Because it’s not that one is old and the other is crazy it’s a freaking Venn diagram of crazy RFK jr., demented Biden and then of course crazy and demented Trump. Seeing the debate and how these people basically can’t put two sentences after each other without breaking up is terrifying. And one of them will be voted into the most important office on the planet.

I mean it’s shit over here. We can choose between a guy who already stole half of our country, someone whose messy divorce somehow made him the most important member of the opposition and this other guy who stole the other half of the country before the current dude did. (And that’s just the tip of the iceberg). But maaan are we a lot better off than the world’s greatest country where two unsupervised parties get to point at the people you can vote into this ridiculously powerful position. And then they pick these guys.

We’re all going to die and I can’t even vote for whoever gets us killed, which is ultimately for the better. This way I can die with a clear conscience.

One day I realized I developed a skill for correctly inserting the USB on first try and I’m in an existential crisis ever since.

They are part right, if we really want to give them the benefit of the doubt. For the south it was absolutely about preserving slavery, but for the north abolishing it was still kind of a controversial topic.

The decision to make it about ending slavery from Lincoln’s part was part tactical, even though he personally always wanted to do so anyway. It made a lot of former slaves and other black people available for enlistment and also secured the support of people opposing slavery.

But initially it was more about the southern paranoia of the north forcing them to abolish slavery and since the north could not provide any security about this, they decided to quit, which lead the north to try and preserve the union.

At least as far as I know.

When I have to set up one of my not-so-privacy-conscius friends’ system, I usually install Brave and turn most of the shit off. Not because it’s the best choice out there, but because it basically doesn’t have a learning curve for ex-chrome users and is still probably the best, when it comes to chromium-based browsers.

Workarounds are generally bad in most software situations. Yes we could tile the windows instead of the tabs, but

• We would have to put them all back in one window when exiting to get them saved
• Alternatively we could use profiles, but that’s a hassle on startup.
• It probably eats up more resources
• If we wanted to relocate our “Firefox workplace” to somewhere else (let’s say another monitor) we would have to drag multiple windows.
• On linux some window managers are just not there with tiling yet (and they might never be).
• Also it looks bad and is a workaround to something that should just be. Hope I didn’t miss anything, and you sir have a nice day :)
