I’ve been a fan of these guys since this album came out. I’m all about music that provides for a different kind of experience. I like the experimental, noisy, industrial sounds across this album and I like the horror movie elements that are utilized. I think I have listened to this one and Visions of Bodies Being Burned every Halloween since their release.

I am especially a fan of Daveed Diggs’ rapping. His articulation is really impressive. Even when he’s rapping in double time or in triplets it is still pretty easy to understand what he’s saying.

And a fun fact for those who don’t know, Diggs made a name for himself from the roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the musical Hamilton. So yeah, one of the guys in Hamilton and the rapper from clipping. are the same guy.

I was giving this album a fresh listen this morning and I kept thinking that this felt like an RTJ prequel.

I have heard this album before today but the only track I really remembered was Reagan. To me that track is an iconic “conscious rap” track and it remains my favorite on the album.

Others that stuck out to me today were Don’t Die and Butane. Don’t Die is just another awesome angry socially conscious track. And I personally like El-P’s rapping more than Killer Mike’s so I knew I would like Butane before I even heard it again.
