They should’ve renamed the movie to “Speedo Pedo”.
Can confirm - mine has neither, it’s a challenge.
Then you have lost control of your life and shortcuts are the least of your problems.
Yep, Adobe software still phones home even when it’s cracked. But there’s supposedly a list of hosts you can block to stop this behaviour: https://a.dove.isdumb.one/list.txt
Yes I bought it ~3 years ago directly from Lenovo and the rubber feet look just like the ones in that photo.
I have an L390 Yoga (i7) and these feet are indeed way too large.
The device is painful to use even with the correct feet, though - at least if you’re using Windows. It’s constantly overheating, because the cooling system is just reused from the L380 and can’t handle the heat of my i7 8565U processor. But hey - at least the marketing people were able to put “4.6GHz” into the specs.
I have to undervolt the CPU to make it run cool and prevent thermal throttling, which is not possible anymore if you’re running a current Windows version.
That thing is probably the last Thinkpad I’ve ever bought, to be honest.
Also, if you’re wondering what that port with network symbol is, it appears to be a proprietary connector used on ThinkPads requiring an “Ethernet Extension” adapter to be usable.
Yup, the port is called “MicroLAN” and the adapter was 30-50€ back when the device was new. It’s of poor quality (the rubber of the cable on mine is turning into a sticky mess) and entirely passive.
Lenovo must’ve looked at Apple’s accessory profits and thought they wanted to make money off of crap, too.
Summertime hours reduction (from 35 to 32 hours).
lol these are my regular hours (webdev in Germany with a 4-day work week)
KDE. Been using it since v3, tried various other systems like Gnome, Enlightenment, XFCE etc. and I’ve always been coming back to it. KDE just feels very intuitive and easy to use.
I turned that shit off after 30 minutes, it was so bad. :D Most regrettable purchase of my life.
It was definitely a combination of genetics and bad oral hygiene.
I’m in the same boat. 35 and half of them are already gone, my mum had them all removed when she was 40. My dentist is not crazy enough to take them out all at once though, that sounds insanely painful. I hope you’ll get through it soon.
Mine got fully away after buying a really good (and expensive) gaming chair and a new mattress. The gaming industry has done so much for our health, it’s insane. :)
Yes, I fucked up here. :D
My morning starts at 12am12pm. God, it’s so awesome to work in the tech industry.
I’m just wired like that and always have been. Back in school I was not compatible with the system of getting up early and often missed the first two hours.
Similar experience: One guy was seeding all of the old uncensored episodes of The Three Investigators and I’m so grateful for that. It’s pretty popular here in Germany, but despite that, no one seems to share it. There are episodes on Spotify, but they are censored and some of the music has been replaced with a modern rendition.
Commander Keen 4. I still love the whole series and play those games from time to time.
After that, my dad got me Doom, Wolfenstein and Duke Nukem 3D. Giving hookers money as a seven-year old in a video game was glorious, the old man has good taste.
Shake it, baby!
When I was in my 20’s, I always gave 200% at the jobs I worked at. I was young and naive and believed I would eventually be rewarded for all the hard work I put in, even on weekends and night shifts.
Then I got burnout, because I was working at a pace my body just couldn’t sustain anymore.
It changed my life drastically. I learned to value my health and free time and to prioritize that over the needs of my employer. I learned that hard work doesn’t neccessarily bring you any benefits, it mostly benefits your employer. I also learned that nobody cares when your health is fucked up - for your employer, you’re just a cog in the machine that can be replaced.
Nowadays I only work four days a week and I don’t give a shit about what happens on Fridays anymore. Server is down? Not my problem, get someone else to fix it.
I also learned to stand up for myself. I’m not getting paid like a monkey anymore and if you promise me a raise and then pretend like that never happened afterwards, you’ll have my resignation on your desk, printed out by the company printer right in front of you.
It’ll probably be a brick in a few months, when the company goes bankrupt and the servers it relies on get shut down. So even getting it for free would be too expensive.
