  • I once called a guy about something he was advertising in the classifieds. I called him on Easter Sunday. He answered, but said he needed a second before he could talk.

Turns out he was Amish. I called an Amish man on the phone… on Easter Sunday. He answered… while he was in church.

I called an Amish man on his cellphone, which he answered in the middle of Easter mass, to talk about his classified ad.

This was the most tame interaction I’ve had with Amish folk. They’re fucking hardcore.

You know that scene in Parks and Rec where Ron Swanson tips a jug of moonshine up onto his shoulder and pours it down his gullet? I’ve fucking seen a bearded guy with a big hat and no buttons do that IRL.

The Amish know how to party.

  • My movies? What?

I’m not upset about anything. I’m simply pointing out that the assertion that all movies today are dogshit shows you are either ignorant to all the quality movies being produced and the history of cinema in general, or your expectations are ludicrously high. In either case, you’re contribution to the discussion is worthless. Or, to put it in your terms: your words are dogshit.

There have always been shitty movies. That’s not to say that there have ONLY been shitty movies.

There are good movies being produced, and with the entirety of human culture at your fingertips, if all you are seeing is dogshit that’s entirely your fault.

  • I spent the better part of my 20’s traveling all over America. During those years my bases of operation were either the suburbs of NW North Carolina or the trailer parks of NE Ohio.

I heard plenty of southern affectation in the trailer parks just south of Cleveland. For reference, Cleveland is across the lake from Canada. There’s no reason ANYONE in Ohio should have such an accent short of their own moving from south of the Mason Dixon. That said, there’s more America below the Mason Dixon than above.
