It’s okay to disagree with people. You’re being a dick while disagreeing with people, though.
It’s okay to disagree with people. You’re being a dick while disagreeing with people, though.
I get that you’re being practical here. You’re not technically wrong, and the people who are disagreeing with you really are arguing points of nuance.
But they aren’t wrong either. That nuance matters in certain contexts.
You can pick this hill to defend. Or you can learn something that you didn’t know about the people in your online community, and probably your IRL community too.
Embrace learning something new. It will almost never be a waste of your time.
Third vote for Silverbullet here. I’m really enjoying using it.
Yeah, my time on Beehaw is almost always pleasant. I really love seeing people arguing in the comments of a post and inevitably after a few exchanges they go out of their way to de-escalate tensions and recognize each other as people. Real conversations, real differing of opinions, but maintaining respect for people.
Some advice that is related to polyamory, but not dating apps.
Do your polyamory homework before creating a dating app profile. There are a lot of emotional pitfalls that people in the same situation have fallen into. I thought I was ready when I went down that path. Looking back on it now, I really should have taken more time to untangle my life before.
Love seeing Concept being suggested! It’s one of my favorite games for getting a group of people communicating together.
In Galaxy Trucker, there is a “distance” or “race” track that manages turn order.
Once all players have built a space ship (simultaneously picking and laying tiles), players place markers on a race track. The first player to finish building their ship is in first, the second player behind them, and so on. I believe there is one empty space between them all as well.
The rest of the game is flipping over event cards one by one and resolving them. Some events are resolved by all players simultaneously. Others are resolved in the order on the race track. First player resolves part of the event. If there’s anything left to resolve, second player resolves part, and so on.
Part of resolving an event might involve moving a certain number of steps up or down the race track, skipping over any occupied spaces.
So turn order here would be complicated to work out, especially in a FSM. Effect cards may change turn order, but not always. There may be empty space between two players in the turn order that gets reduced or increased instead. I suppose you could model it with N real players and then X place-holder players that don’t actually take their turn.
I totally get that the joycons are really different than what you’re used to. I’d like to urge you to give them a decent shot though. There is something indescribably comfortable about lounging on your couch with your arms in any position you want while playing games. It just feels luxurious. Sometimes I’m leaning back with one arm behind my head, sometimes I’ve got one hand on my lap and my other resting on my dog nearby. It just feels good.
I’m okay with a bot providing extra context. It’s easy to block for those who don’t want it.
I do hope that people will get into the habit of making game titles bold. It makes it so much easier to scan a ton of comments to see if a particular game is being talked about.
I really enjoyed the Galaxy Trucker app! There was no reason for them to add so much extra content to that game, but they did and it’s awesome. I should play a round or two again, it’s been a while.
Consider Sentinel’s of the Multiverse for something different than what’s suggested so far.

Instead of going head to head against each other, all the players are heros joining forces against a comic book villan. The different decks are flavourful and most play in a unique way. And it feels like an epic fight against evil.
I haven’t seen Skull mentioned yet.

Plays well at a variety of player counts. Easy to teach. The game has a nice tension to it.
There is the problem of players being eliminated. Some people just really hate that. I’ve found that the game is short enough and interesting enough that it never feels bad to be eliminated, but your crew might not agree.
I’m honestly having so much fun getting out in my neighborhood and completing quests
