The current state graphic doesn‘t make any sense to me. Twitter is in the same box as mastodon? Lemmy in the same as reddit?

What is long term enough for you? A lifetime?

At this point it’s kinda insane to only use twitter for announcements. Most people don’t have it, and you can’t view tweets without an account or some complicated workaround like this.
I mean some people still do only post their stuff on twitter. But I’d imagine that’s getting less and less every day.
Why?
Little too boring to watch is the most subjective thing you can say, not really helpful in a thread like this
Tbh no ads + open source is what draws me to activity pub. Nothing about a microblogging service is groundbreaking in 2023 anyway.
They should upload the code on an .onion page
We have that already. It’s called huggingface.co
if there was an extention that could skip the sponsor segments inside the videos themselves I’d use it in a heartbeat.

The argument doesn’t really hinge on the made-up numbers, it would be the same if you swapped 10% in there.
When it comes to art, there’s always somebody who doesn’t make it financially. Too few sold albums, too few downloads, too little merch sold. Some artists are always going to struggle and barely stay afloat making art, while the ones doing marinally worse are gonna quit and do something else.
The number of these people for whom piracy - or any other small loss of revenue for that matter - tips the scale doesn’t depend on how many people pirate stuff.
The actual difference piracy makes is the 0.2% (or whatever) dent in revenue which then means ~ 0.2% of potential artists end up working in other industries.
My alternative explanation is that bi men stay in the closet “too long” cause they are discouraged from being open and they also kinda can stay closeted.
That makes you fly under the radar and hear and possibly even internalize the worst things straight people say about LGBT people. It also makes you spend more time with straight people instead of your fellow bi dudes, who you could best advocate for yourself with.
That’s how it was for me anyway. Mind you, I’m not blaming us for our oppression, just saying that we’re in a bit of a tricky dilemma.
There were no “bigots”, the whole society was homophobic. So kinda difficult to say
Tesseract isn’t too heavy, maybe it runs locally? 👉👈
I used to torrent on my work machine too lmao
