How else would you know it was doing anything?
My namesake is a human librarian that was turned into an orangutan. All he says is “Ook” and can traverse the library stacks with great ease. He is happy.
I have a pretty strange knowledge set. I’m not super friendly, but I like to get high and link people to stuff. Just pretend I said only “ook”
How else would you know it was doing anything?
Thought I’d ping you. I checked out freecad and posted some initial thoughts here. https://lemmy.world/post/11352164
I remember playing with qcad. It was awful, but it was the best FOSS CAD I found. AutoCAD was unrivaled from when I learned it in 1999 and remained that way until I had drifted away. I think I played with qcad around 2011.
I found OpenSCAD about 3 years ago, and it knocked by socks off. I’d like to see how mature FreeCAD is now.
In my high school, we had semesters. The first semester you took drafting, it was on drafting tables with Tsquare, triangles, compasses, and stuff. In your 4 years there, there were 8 semesters. You could technically take it 8 times. I think I took it four. So I had 3 semesters of autocad.
2006 was an easy time for me to lose Windows. Do you remember how much worse Windows was back in 200*? Everything had viruses. There were TV ads promising they could get your computer running “like new”. Viruses were so common that people seemed to think computers slowed down with age.
So I’m ignorant about FreeCAD, but FOSS is so powerful now I’m excited to check it out.
Honestly I do. My workflow is not enviable. I’m a little dabbler. I do like CAD, but I’ve never used it professionally. I have a little, ugly sewing table to prove it.
I learned AutoCAD99 in high school. But I never kept up the skills later.
I learned OpenSCAD to draw models for papers. Or for math problems when I taught. It really is a fun tool to get into the swing of, but I let my skills get rusty and it’s frustrating now.
Ahhh… I see. When I said “end”, I was thinking permanently, irreparably. Not just pause.
I like your plan of giving Tuvix a long and fulfilling life while the rest of the crew does fuck all lost in the delta quadrant.
Are you claiming it is in fact equivalent to the standard “trolley problem”? (I don’t think you are, but if you are, I’ll add)
If the point is even “arguable”, I claim that is enough to distinguish it from the trolley problem, because that argument doesn’t come up there.
That was my point. I agree that the consciousness that emerged is distinct from Tuvok (or of course Neelix, but I felt like an ass last time I used the “say Tuvok” construction).
I’m a fan of OpenSCAD for my woodworking. But I’m not, like, industrial with it. But I can get my work done.
hi. sorry the first thing i bring up is a criticism.
I don’t see why the bestoflemmy on lemmy.world should focus on lemmy features. It seems like it should just the best stuff, like content stuff, on lemmy.world, curated for sure, but not focused. it seems a name like lemmyTricks or myfavoritelemmyfeature would encompass that mission. This is kinda sitting on a general name, and I wonder if that’s why there are not more submissions.
I found it funny regardless. Either “Ta meg på” is meaningful, and he thought the English structure would just roll with it. Or “Ta meg på” is meaningless, so he thought “fuck it. i doubt ‘take on me’ really means anything anyway”
It really adds a layer because “take on me” really doesn’t mean anything, but it does when he sings it. and furthermore, “take me on” doesn’t mean anything, but I know the difference between “take on me” and “take me on” and that is some analysis I wouldn’t be doing if a particular Norwegian was better at English.
Would that make the next line “ta meg på”? Does that have a meaning?
Guess I’ll be sucking the dick of the person who is technically the youngest person I’ve met.
I said “read the meme” because that is all I was addressing. The title is just engagement-bait as far as I’m concerned. It’s either a meme or question. I’m sure others are here for the question but not the meme. And therefore, I’m being engagement-baited. Who knows, but I was clear about what I was talking about.
I just think saying “you’re completely missing the point” to a comment that is perfectly on topic is completely uncalled for.
I reason I think git is dead-simple to “self-host” is because I do it. I’m not a computer guy. I just used svn to version control some papers with fellow grad students. (it didn’t last, i was the only one that liked it.) so now i use git for some notes i archive. I’m not saying there aren’t tools to considerably upgrade the easy-of-use factor that would require some tech skills I don’t possess, but I stand by point.
I blame someone else
If you want someone to listen to a meta-mathematical rant about CH, I’m all ears.
It’s weird to feel like you’re earning too much. It sounds like you are earning what Homer Simpson, Red Foreman, and Hank Hill all make. That is, enough to feed a family of four. They only had high school diplomas. Sure, they’re fictional, but that story was real.
Are you saying that it is philosophical which axiom sets we choose? There are alternatives to ZFC. Some have been shown to be as consistent as ZFC.
So if that’s what you’re saying, I would have to agree.
Wow, genocide meets enlightened centrism. Good take, given the thread.
This is fun. I’m listening to two Telsa owners bicker about the precise reason that I shouldn’t buy a Telsa.
Do you honestly think they’re “completely missing the point”? Read the meme. There’s no mention of gitea. Self-hosting git is nothing to wiggle your tie over. Maybe setting up the things you are talking about are, but git?
Is this seriously your takeaway from a well-thought out post? This the smugness of reddit that I really don’t miss.
edit: I am refering to the root comment, as that isn’t clear.
