  • Yeah I’ve had it in my library for awhile, played a handful of hours and ended up being off today so thought why not? Can’t get to online mode, I always figured I’d do online mode when it was released. A shame but it happens. Granted I tried right after I could download it so probably not the best time but I was also curious if something like this would come up. I’m sure it’ll get sorted out anyways.

  • I’ve only dabbled in Linux, I can figure out things for the most part but never used it beyond some fiddling, but I didn’t realize that desktop environments had that many specific applications. I always thought beyond some default apps most apps wouldn’t depend on the desktop environment but after some reading seems like they use similar dependencies.

So if this gets seen, can most/many/any general kde apps work under a different environment if you install the dependencies or do you absolutely need the environment for them to work? Does that also follow for other desktop environments? Been reading up on DEs to get a dual boot or virtual install going in the future and this was something I hadn’t realized may make one DE stand out.

  • For the time it came out it looked pretty cool at least, which at least all was needed for the movie. I remember reading up years later how it was an actual program which I thought was pretty neat, they spared no expense in their computer visuals heh. After actually working in enterprise systems I do understand how awful that’d be to work with.

  • Last time I went to McDonald’s there was a mess up and I was given the cash difference, I really dunno when I’ll use it offhand. I’m also in Canada, never had a use for cash after recreational weed happened. Weird they make someone go through unknown keypressss to do cash, vending machines do cash why not just be convenient for customers? Oh right, paying people to deal with the cash, cause that’d hurt McDonald’s bottom line heh.

  • I have Fry doing the first book and Adams doing at least one othe book, I find Adams a bit flat but I do agree he does a good job. I listened to one of the Freeman read books and it didn’t feel quite right but he’s probably closer to Adams than Fry. That said I enjoyed Fry’s Harry Potter readings many times so that may influence my preference. Generally I think authors will give their intended inflections in the reading which does help with the feel of a book.

  • I enjoyed Needful Things narrated by him, don’t think The Stand I listened to was by him though. I do agree On Writing is a good choice by him, helps it’s about King too. Of course Needful Things starts with a couple of Maine old timers sounding like they’re talking on a porch which his accent conveys very well. The first narrator for the Dark Tower series did Roland perfectly, was more difficult when they had to switch and definitely wouldn’t want King instead, though it’d almost make sense if you know the story.

  • I find sex scenes awkward to enjoy, I kinda like the fade to black where it’s implied but not delved into. That said so many novels that are aimed at a similar audience with sci Fi and fantasy have always had sex scenes (Necromancer, Hyperion, Expanse all have sex in them) When we were playing text based games back in the 80s we wanted a cinematic experience. What’s the result? Games with sex in them. A new Leisure Suit Larry game is probably about due now that I think of it heh. I just click through and continue on.

  • Yes,minor spoiler but I was made smelly at one point, I was curious so used a thing of water to make everything wet, this stopped the effect. Probably could have gone through a river too. That made me curious there was a bad substance on the ground, I shattered water again and it made it passable. Now this sounds simple but I’m programming terms it’s the same action interacting that changes different systems (in place hazard and character modifier). That alone could create small bugs when interacting with different modifiers, items and NPCs. For the most part someone wouldn’t run into a quarter of the bugs they post (even a quarter is high) but someone will and it’s awesome they are being patched.

Personally I’ve played about 20 hours since release, the only bug I had was when I was playing on hotfix 4 before they fixed that hotfix. It sounds worse than it was, since it was a compiler issue. I’m sure others aren’t as lucky but even 10000 bugs isn’t bad when it’s a rare and edge cases. But with probability you get more players (and this game seemed to sell very well) and the weird bugs that even beta testers didn’t find will come up.

  • I only tried Jerboa and Connect, I liked Connect’s styling and have been using it for a few days. Haven’t noticed any excess battery drain or usage on my phone but I don’t use it for resource heavy tasks or post / comment often. Basically saying I agree, no issues on my end but I haven’t monitored memory usage really or used it for long periods either so others reading may have different experiences.
