Whose idea was it to leave it out in the sun?
They’re more different than people might expect. I like both, but they’re very different experiences.
I was mainly curious as to whether this was mostly a fun exercise, or if there were a practical advantage to having the calendar printed in 3D. Cool either way.
This looks great! I love OpenSCAD, and this is a pretty feature-rich usage.
Are you planning to print it for regular use as a calendar, or is there another use case you had in mind?
Yeah, but by putting up the “we don’t support this” banner, they won’t have to deal with the complaints in the first place.
It’s also possible they want people to use Chromium for telemetry or other data-collection reasons, not sure.
Sort of. I imagine the idea is they only need to test on Chromium-based browsers.
700cm
Absolutely. Making sure I have a huge life insurance policy, but getting it far ahead enough to avoid questions of fraud would be worth it.
I’ll throw Alpine Linux into the mix. Not sure how well it supports older hardware, but it’s really small.
There was a monastery adjacent to a property owned by Hugh Jackman. To help the poor village nearby, the monks would sell flowers at a stand near the road, at quite a reasonable price.
This upset the local florist, who was accustomed to overcharging his clients. On doing some research, the florist found that the monks were not legally allowed to sell anything from their property. He took his complaint to the village authorities, but they explained to him that the monks were actually using Mr. Jackman’s land for their flower stand.
They told the shop owner: only Hugh can prevent florist friars.
Yeah, but it always goes a bit sideways when it attacks.
They obviously don’t have the features that Rufus has, but I’ve ended up using the default USB image writers that come pre-installed (found them on both Mint and Manjaro, probably available on others). If you’re just looking to write an ISO, check to see if you already have one.
People have been running GUIs on much less for decades–though if you’re trying to use something out-of-the-box, anything modern will certainly not do well. But there’s tons of RPi stuff that runs on meager specs.
I’d have expected people would use these things for similar projects as SBCs.
it takes a lot of trust for someone to come out
Even if it doesn’t mean anything to you personally, it might mean something to those close to you. Sharing these types of things is what helps build trust between people. It might also help them understand you better (improving communication, for example).
There are other possible benefits to those close to you as well. For anyone who isn’t as exposed or comfortable with the LGBTQ+, it might help normalize them to the queer community a bit (or at least be a step). It may also benefit the larger queer community just by your representation (and in my experience, it seems like the ace community is often underrepresented).
Of course, coming out exposes you to possible backlash and difficulty, so of course you’re not obligated to do so (or on any particular schedule). But hopefully that helps explain some of the possible benefits.
Got a gaming laptop that functions for everything. Not as powerful as a dedicated tower, but being somewhat portable is worth it for me.
While I understand the author’s frustration with the developers not giving as much weight to the (non-contributing) community, the fact is that the developers get to make the final call on this, and they get to use whatever criteria they like.
And there’s no definitive answer to whether a name change would be a net positive or negative–a handful of complaints vs brand dilution is a subjective call. And for the number of users, I get the impression that it’s not as big of a deal to most people as it is to the author.
Do you… do you have eyelids?
You should have eyelids.
