One of the things it asks permission for when hooking up Bluetooth etc is “call history”, “contacts” or “text messages”

I’d assume the system needs those to read it messages or call/redial. It wouldn’t need OCR to do other things with that data

I setup a NAT rule that redirects anything going to the Google DNS IP’s send sends it to my own DNS server.

I’ve had windows do this to me randomly before, especially if it’s an interface that comes up a bit late. Be careful that it doesn’t change back on you

Yeah, I don’t find any religion I’ve ever run across appealing, but I have no beef with those who do good under the umbrella of their religion and don’t try to beat on others with it.

And? You could take the same data and say- “religious persons are less likely to speak out againstmessaging that potentially promotes harm” (likely also dependent on the religious affiliation of the messenger)

The preceding message that this makes atheists the more “intolerant” group is a pretty massive reach, consider that the messaging they may be against could in itself be one of intolerance as per my example.

I had multiple models of Surface Pro. The first several generations ran great on Linux, but the later models got hella expensive without offering much new for the price. I ended up with a Lenovo X12 which is similar in turn factor but had more storage/RAM/power for less price

I feel like the implementation was a bit gimmicky. I first used an IR transceiver as a remote on a late-model palm and the interface was much better than most apps I found on Android.

I loved how it referenced a ton of things from D&D in terms of both tabletop stuff and TSR novels etc, but didn’t try to cinematize the plot of any book in particular nor really focus on any particular book storyline etc.

I honestly loved it. I felt it was a decent movie with lots of easter eggs and iconic lore/characters in it, that was made by somebody who appreciated the source material. This is as opposed to say, the Mario movie which felt more low “let’s toss in as many game characters and references as we can, then add some plot to that”. D&D was a savory soup with just about the right amount of spices, meat, and vegetables.

Mario was still an ok soup, but it had less broth/base and an almost overwhelming number of chunks of stuff in it.

Well, what we’ve seen this far is not making it mandatory just means that the battery will not be user-replaceable on 99% of devices, because that’s the most profitable way of doing it even if it results in a lot of extra waste

I feel like OLED screens partly replace this, since they could have a small indicator on the screen without needing to power a backlight etc

I liked the physical toggle for silent mode on iPhones.

As far as apps though… I really loved having a good programmable remote app on devices with an IR transceiver. The best one was actually on Palm of all things, and you could add custom icons to a layout and then record inputs from your actual remotes to replay.
