I’m so excited for Cosmic!
I’m so excited for Cosmic!
But Nothing Phone isn’t a Pixel, is it? Yeah, I think it’s probably closer to the Pixel’s clean software experience than Samsung’s bloated one, but still, this doesn’t seem to be fair comparison.
I used Samsung until about a year ago and now use Pixel since that time. Pixel software experience is infinitely better for my tastes and needs.
I mean, ok, you do you. There’s a huge amount of people (me included) who find paying with their phone extremely convenient.
Also, this article is about giving users more choice, not forcing anyone to use a wallet app.
I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I love it. I like it more than any app I could find on the Play Store and the fact that it’s open source is an awesome cherry on top.
When I receive a notification I don’t need to switch away from my editor to check it, I just glance to the left and continue with my work or react if needed. Constantly switching windows in front of me would be so much more distracting for me.
Also, being able to read docs and google stuff on a vertical monitor on the right, while still seeing the code in front of me is incredibly convenient. Again, I can’t imagine switching away from my editor to the docs and to the code again.
I need to be able to effortlessly switch attention between code, tests, logs, docs, notifications. If I can’t do that by just shifting my sight in the right direction, my brain doesn’t function.
It’s so interesting how different people are!
Anything less than that will completely ruin my workflow. I’m even trying to come up with a feasible way to fit a fourth one.
E2E is their flagship feature and pretty much only selling point. I’m really not surprised they don’t allow to just disable it.
Huge thanks to Vaxry and all contributors, Hyprland is great!
This is me. I still can’t believe how much a few hours of sun can boost my mood.
I’m well aware of what Vivaldi can do but I refuse to support Chromium’s monopoly. In fact, it’s the only reason why I use FF.
Oh god, yes please. I would love to have that!
I didn’t expect this to be something I would actually use but I was mildly excited to try it out just out of curiosity. Then it asked me to log in. Login to a fucking terminal emulator. I have no words.
I’m very excited for COSMIC!
Exactly this. I would love to use GrapheneOS but I’m not ready to give up NFC payments.
I think OP is worried about keeping their charged phone on the charger just for this feature. I also heard that keeping devices with batteries connected to a charger for a long time is not good because it generates a lot of small charging cycles pushing the battery to 100% repeatedly. I’m actually curious whether that’s true for the modern smartphones or not.
FWIW my Pixel has an “adaptive charging” feature that slowly charges the phone to 90% overnight and then tops it to 100% just before an alarm. It seems to be aimed at reducing this exact effect so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is something to it.
Thanks!
To be honest I really like the aesthetics of keycaps without labels and I will probably change to those eventually. However, I wanted to play it safe for now considering the fact that it’s my first time with a keyboard like this.
It will definitely be 99% stationary but I think I will need to figure out a way to safely travel with it a few times a year since typing on a laptop keyboard feels like a torture now…
Recently I like to play some Twitch streams in the background when I’m not doing anything requiring a lot of focus. It makes me feel like I’m not really alone at home without any social effort on my side. You definitely have to find a right streamer for you though - most of Twitch is garbage in my opinion.
Someone mentioned going out to eat or sit at some cafe which I also like to do sometimes.
Good job Cosmic team!
I really hope Cosmic can be the first DE to close the gap between tilling window managers and DEs we have today. Very excited for it!
Software development and computer stuff in general is my passion. I enjoy doing it as a hobby even after doing it at work. If I didn’t have to work for money, I would probably work on some open source software. In fact that’s kinda my dream / goal - achieve financial independence and work on open source as I please.
